We were out shopping yesterday and I saw a steakhouse advertised as a Brazilian steakhouse as well, although I don't think it was the same name. They're good eh? What do they do different when cooking steaks? Might be something to check out.

If it is like the one we go to......

You sit at the table and the waiter comes around with a various selection of meats (one at a time) that have been skewered on a long sword and roasted over flame.** They plunk down the sword, tell you what the meat is, and you say "yep I want some of that" or "nope" They then slice off a piece for you and you put it on your plate. You sit there thinking "hmm, this doesn't seem to be a lot of food", but they just seem to keep coming and coming with various cuts/preparations of beef, chicken, pork, lamb, shrimp, sausages, and our favourite, grilled pineapple, until you tell them enough. Mixed with the all you can eat buffet / salad bar (which is amazing at our restaurant) and you basically roll right out of there. It's a bit pricey, but oh so delicious! I don't know what they do in the grilling process, but oh my word, it is so good.

**This is based on how Brazilian/Argentinian cowboys (gauchos) prepare their meals while out on the range, or something like that!

mmmm, Brazilian steakhouse... yup, if you leave one of these places hungry, it's your own dang fault!!! They are pricey precisely because you can get all the meat you desire. For carnivores like myself, ooooh, what a feast. A tip I'd suggest is if you can get to one of these places for lunch (not on a weekend usually), you can get the same food for a cheaper price just because it's lunchtime.

Chicken Mac

1 tbsp oil

4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (@ 1 lb) *

1 pkg (14 ounce) Kraft Deluxe mac & Cheese dinner (I just use regular mac and cheese)

1 can (14-1/2 ounce) diced tomatoes, undrained

2 green onions, sliced (I just fry up some onions when I fry up the chicken)

1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley (I just use some dried parsley)

Heat oil in medium skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken. Cook about 7 minutes on each side until cooked through.

Meanwhile, prepare Mac& Cheese as directed on the package, substituting large skillet for saucepan...

Add tomatoes, onions and parsley to prepared dinner; mix lightly. Top with chicken.

*what I do is use about 2 chicken thighs but chop them up and then fry them and then mix it into the mac and cheese with everything else....

We are having roast turkey (I am just roasting a turkey breast, not the whole turkey), stuffing, gravy, corn and green beans. I have been much more into cooking lately. Hubby says I am nesting :)

My Husband is making spaghetti! So we will be having that and garlic bread.

I made some chicken breasts the other night and coated them in bisquick, paprika, few other spices - then cooked them in the oven, they were really good (got the idea off the box of bisquick).

Oh this is a recent change, only in the 3rd trimester. When I was first pregnant, smells would really set me off and I avoided the kitchen. Hubby did most of the cooking then, poor guy.

well, we have sure splurged today! We have company and were meeting up with friends in Atlanta for dinner after having lunch on our own. We had planned to go to Cedars of Lebanon for lunch - but when we got there the building was vacant and a neighbour said that they had moved to a larger place - they just didn't know where! So, we ended up going to a lovely Suishi Restaurant across the way. Oh yum! Yum! It was absolutely wonderful - excellent food - I had alarge roll with crab, shrimp, avocado, some green crunchy things, rice, wrapped in -well, I am not even sure what it was wrapped in but it was wonderful - and served with a spicy sauce. The role was cut into 10 pieces so there was a lot. For those who are interested the restaurant was named Kiku and it was just off of Lennox Rd.

For dinner we went to a lovely Thai and Chinese restaurant named Hunan off of Roswell Rd and Hammond Rd in Sandy Springs. We ordered Szechuan beef, Mango chicken, breaded scallops with pickled cabbage and garlic beans. (The 5 of us shared and there was plenty for all). Again, absolutely incredible food, very well prepared and extremely tasty. It will be so ordinary to go back to meals at home tomorrow. Oh, wait - we still have leftovers from last night's dinner out - ok, I know what I'm having for lunch now! hehehe.

yeah, same here.. I specially couldn't stand the smell of chicken ... I could hardly eat it too.... my hubby doesn't cook much :P he knows how to do scrambled eggs.. and he can cook if he puts his mind to it but that doesn't happen to often....

Thanks Cassie. That not only sounds like fun, but delicious! It is true that most places offer the same lunch menu that's less expensive. I've dined some times where we've stopped early for a meal, and we're right on the cusp of turnover between lunch and dinner, and seen the lunch menu which except for a few things is the same...for less money of course! I think the portions are usually smaller. That better be the reason!

Sounds like you've had a few lovely meals as well Kathyrn! I'm not a sushi fan, but always love it when people describe an experience they love even if I'm not of the same mind. :)

I think I'm going ot make spinach ricotta in jumbo shells with marinara sauces. Mmmmmmmmmm Some crusty buns, and salad will round this out.

Wow. Good luck on the job interviews, Marilyn!!!

Last night we had orange-glazed salmon with peppers and rice. I also made a corn, black bean, and tomato salsa. Tonight we are having the leftover french onion soup and salad. My husband hates leftovers so I normally never make him eat them. But I have put my food down and now he is happy to eat leftovers. It might have been the flood.

Just a note to the seasonal fruit and veggie lovers..... the seedless watermelon I bought the other day was fantastic. So sweet and juicy. Going to get another one today.
