I'm sure that I read somewhere that onions and potatoes shouldn't be stored together. The reason was something along the lines of them causing each other to spoil more quickly.

Does anyone know if that's true?

Well I think I'll try to keep the next batch in the crisper section of the fridge, the cupboard must get humid in there. Tonight I'm going to make chicken kabobs and rice for the gent and rice with black beans and veggies for the lady.

I am going to make homemade gyros using Alton Brown's recipe.

I love Alton Brown. He's like Bill Nye for kitchen nerds.

My husband also loves Alton Brown, because whenever I watch the show, I immediately turn around and want to make whatever's on it. So because of Alton, my husband has had vanilla bean creme brulee and roast duck in the same evening.

On the other hand, he also hates Alton Brown, because whenever I watch the show, I immediately turn around with a list of things I need for my kitchen. Which is how I got my cast iron wok and my Kitchenaid Mixer.

"What? What do you need NOW? Do I need to divert a pure mountain stream from the Himalayas into the sink this time?"

"Actually, I need a big ceramic chicken."

"Honey, I'm pretty sure that's just a decoration. He never USES it for anyth--"

"I SAID. I need a BIG. CERAMIC. CHICKEN."

"Your mom is in my head right now, and she's saying don't do that."

"For Sale. One Parachute . Used only once, never been opened. Small stain."

Alton Brown's annoying but he definitely comes up with some excellent methods.

I've seen you say this before - what annoys you about him - too much information? Silly sets and costumes??

I hate the little skits. They're so stupid. And the way he keeps coming at the camera with his face like he's trying to get into your space. Bothers me.

My husband says the same thing, which is why he doesn't watch it with me. He just reaps the tasty benefits.

We both love Gordon Ramsay though. I wish I could learn his ill-tempered ways. I love him because he's not just crazy -- his recipes are actually amazing and bereft of bs.

I hate wasting food, and I had Costco sized bags of broccoli and carrots to use up, so I googled and found a recipe for broccoli and carrot lasagna. Just finished cooking it. We'll see how it tastes.

My husband is like you LDora with his alton brown stuff, in fact just last week he found a restaurant supply store and bought a bunch of stuff... silly stuff imo. He went took culinary for a year in college before he switched over to design, but he thinks he's a chef... I'll admit he's an amazing cook but man Alton makes him buy silly things like pie birds and weird steamer contraptions.
