What's For Dinner?

Mom came to visit yesterday and she took me out for dinner ... yay! Except dinner really sucked ... boo :( I had French onion soup which was adequate and then a buffalo chicken salad, but the buffalo wing sauce had a weird flavor. All in all, not satisfying.

Bleh. I haven't had a good French onion soup in the US since I moved here. I have given up ordering it.... I hate to be disappointed yet again. LOL

Tonight we had the local smoker bbq guy's chicken and collard greens, plus I made a corn casserole. Plus I had made a cheese tray and veggies and dip for appies. I had also bought all the fixin's to make strawberry shortcakes (it's strawberry season here) but I'm thinking that may too much food. Mostly because I'm stuffed and I just want to go to bed.

I went to one of my favourite restaurants in town here called Montforts, great med food. I had a falafel pita with hummos and greek salad, so yummy. My Mom had french onion soup and chicken shwarma. Tomorrow, heading to Zellers to get all my wonderful Canadian staples to bring home!!

Yesterday I didn't go shopping, hence I made creamy tomatoe basil soup from Costco. ;) I did feel guilty just opening up the container for that so I made some homemade chicken salad sandwiches to accompany the soup. They were very yummy, with tarragon, sliced almonds, dried cranberries, grapes and shredded carrot. Yummers!

Tonight, I have no idea! Maybe we'll head out for pizza or something so that there is no leftovers if we're going to be away for several days.

Not sure about dinner but my husband will be home early and we are going to some Mexican restaurant called Poncho's. It is re-opening today after being closed after Katrina. It seems to be a big deal that it is re-opening. It is only open for lunch today, I assume it will be crazy there.

I (L) Montforts!!!!!! :crying: Oh! Jill! There is a fabulous new Italian restaurant at Trafalgar and Hwy 6, across from the SuperCentre.... in the little plaza by the LCBO. Just in case you wanted real Italian.

I have no idea what we are having for supper this evening. I am thinking we may get some bread and wine at The Holy Land Experience. :hehe:

We haven't had any crawfish yet this season so I will pick some up tonight. Lots of places around here have them hot and freshly berled and ready to go.

Kroger's had these large French bread type buns (or small round loaves, hehehe) on sale, so I picked up two, hollowed them out and filled them with hot chili. Had some left over potato salad and coleslaw to finish it off. Had strawberry shortcakes the last two nights - only strawberries and whipped cream left for tonight. Last night I splurged and had whipped cream in my coffee too. Somehow that seems so decadent! Hehehe

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Had my crawfish. They were yummy. Have to admit- I'm still a little hungry. They are a lot of work for a little amount of food. I may be boiling up a hotdog in a little while :)

 Before I moved here I was very squeamish about seafood. I wouldn't touch a peel and eat shrimp.

It has gotten better but I do admit I still need a glass of wine or two before I can tackle this stuff.
