Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Tamales. Getting a big batch of them today..... unfortunately, I need to drive all the way to East L.A. to go get them.

Tonight, it will be Enchilladas, Chile Rellenos and Tamales. Thank god i'm not cooking any of it, so it will actually taste good

Joe's cooking tonight. We visited a large Farmer's Market in Atlanta last week and have lots of fresh veggies on hand so he is doing a stir-fry with vidalia onions, leeks, bok choy, asparagus, yellow squash, carrots, potatoes, cabbage and sausages. Yum! Although, I wouldn't mind some turkey - we didn't have any this Christmas. Maybe I will pick up a turkey breast this week for New Year's instead.

ok so we have been eating out a lot since my brother and his wife got here.. the first day my sister-in-law handed me 20 bucks when we went to Jack in the box which was nice.. and then Christmas Day we went to Denny's because she wanted a turkey dinner.. it was a not very good meal :P anyways it came to around 70 bucks for all 4 of us and I was kind of waiting for them to offer to help pay for it but she didn't say anything till we were walking to the car.. she said, "do you want some cash to help pay for dinner" and I said "no, that's ok this is our Christmas present for you" ...

anyways, we went out yesterday and stopped for lunch and again she didn't offer to pay, not even afterwards... I really don't mind paying but we can't pay for all the meals while they are here... we are not made of money :P besides the fact that we let them stay here instead of a hotel :P

You could always say next time you're out that you'll let them pay for this one since you got the last ones. I do think they should at least offer rather than just assume you're always going to pay.

I always thought turkey was a standard thing for Christmas dinner, but no one in these here parts has turkey for dinner on Christmas. Is it a Canadian thing to have turkey at Christmas? I'm a little out of the loop on the turkey thing because I'm a vegetarian ... I didn't miss turkey ...I was just wondering.

We always have turkey in Canada and at Joe's relatives in Texas for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. With just the two of us, however, a turkey seems like rather a huge amount of food! Practicality sometimes just trumps tradition (VBG!).

Joe is cooking again tonight - lentil stew - yum! He makes it nice and spicy. It will have bok choy, celery, carrots, potatoes, leeks, onions, jalapeno pepper, green pepper, yellow squash, ham and of course, lentils. We will have a tomato and cucumber salad to go along with it.

Entertaining is SOOO expensive!

When people come here they want to go to NYC, Philly and AC. I must have spent about $600 when my family came up for our wedding weekend and I only really spent 2 days with them! But you go out to eat and you pick them up things and you need to get around yea... entertaining is expensive. Plus its tiring too! :P

Donne moi une poptart!
