I just found this recipe in the newspaper for Baked Pumpkin Brulee French Toast - I really like pumpkin so I am going to try this as soon as I get the ingredients!

Lauren Chapin | The Kansas City Star

Baked Pumpkin Brulee French Toast

Yield: 8 servings.

2 cups milk

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

4 large eggs

4 egg yolks

3/4 cup granulated sugar

15-ounces pumpkin puree

1 teaspoon ground ginger

Pinch of salt

20 slices egg bread

1/4 cup brown sugar

Whipped cream for garnish

1. Butter 10-inch springform pan. Wrap outside with foil. Warm milk, cream and vanilla in pan on medium. Remove from heat. Let sit 20 minutes. Pour into bowl. Heat oven to 325 F. Whisk eggs and yolks. Whisk in sugar. Slowly stir into cooled milk mixture. Stir in pumpkin, ginger and salt.

2. Dunk bread into custard. Arrange slices in pan, overlapping layers. Slowly pour remainder of mixture into pan. Let sit 30 minutes.

3. Place pan inside roasting pan. Fill pan with hot tap water until it reaches about halfway up sides. Bake 90 minutes. During last 10-15 minutes, top with 1/4 cup brown sugar. Raise temperature to 400 F. Let cool 20 minutes. Remove from pan. Garnish with whipped cream.

trailmix, my mouth is watering...please let me know how that turns out. I cut up and process my own pumpkin, so I have baggies of it in the freezer. I always make pumpkin loaves, or pumpkin chocolate chip muffins which are a hit, but it's nice to get new pumpkin recipes to try out. That one sounds divine!

I think yesterday I posted that I was going to make a turkey meatloaf, but in the late afternoon, Gene and I were watching a BBQ show on the travel channel. OMG, I was drooling. So, when it was over, we went out for BBQ at Bandana's a local BBQ joint. I had smoked turkey.

Tonight I'm just going to heat up some leftovers. Gene is out at a work lunch today, which means he'll overeat and won't want supper. :hehe:

Will do Carla, i'm thinking of making it this weekend.

Speaking of BBQ - I ordered a BBQ and it should arrive today or tomorrow - Mike has already bought the lava rocks and a propane tank, just need to fill up the tank.

I have rarely bbq'd anything, but I have decided i'm going to become a master  - or at least try to cook something different on it anyway - I love bbq's.

Last night we had a hamburger and fries - from Wendy's - and it was actually good!

We had KFC for supper tonight and I have to say.... YUCKY! Nothing on the menu was familiar and it just tasted horrible, not the same at all! Plus it has left me with a really wicked stomach ache now. ~sighs~ It's so strange to me how things taste so different here. It's funny though cause I think some things taste better, like Wendy's!

I just find I feel like ####### any time I eat fast food. I still get a hankering every now and then and always regret eating it.

Tonight I'm making Chinese five-spice beef. Three hours on the stove, and the house smells like a spice rack.

tomorrow I am making tacos.. I can't wait.... well, hubby will make them, he just doesn't know it yet  he is home tomorrow and I am working :P(just an aside but for the last few weeks whenever he has had a day off and they have been few and far between, it is always on a day when I work :P)

anyways for the taco meat I found this recipe for a Taco bell seasoning clone.. it tastes way better then taco bell though because first taco bell uses that fake meat and seconf they probably add a bunch of fake ####### with the spices :P the recipe I have is just a mixture of flour and spices , then you just cook the meat, drain and then add water and the seasoning mix and simmer and voila, you have meat for your tacos ... I think my hubby can handle that :P

Well, yesterday I found this cauliflower cheese pizza crust to make. I just had to try it. I loved it! I'm counting carbs, so no bread is ideal for me. It was thin and crispy, although I'd prefer it crispier, but was a real hit.

Tonight I'm thinking that turkey meatloaf. LOL Or maybe turkey chili...I HAVE to use up that ground turkey!
