Ways to irritate a Telemarketer

I know this is old but it makes me laugh every time....

When they ask "How are you today?" Tell them! "I'm so glad you asked because no one these days seems to care, and I have all these problems; my arthritis is acting up, my eyelashes are sore, my dog just died..."

If they say they're John Doe from XYZ Company, ask them to spell their name. Then ask them to spell the

company name. Then ask them where it is located. Continue asking them personal questions or questions about their company for as long as necessary.

Cry out in surprise, "Judy! Is that you? Oh my God! Judy, how have you been?" Hopefully, this will give Judy a few brief moments of pause as she tries to figure out where the hell she could know you from.

If MCI calls trying to get you to sign up for the Family and Friends plan, reply, in as SINISTER a voice as you can, "I don't have any friends... would you be my friend?"

If they want to loan you money, tell them you just filed for bankruptcy and you could sure use some money.

Tell the telemarketer you are busy at the moment and ask them if they will give you their HOME phone number so you can call them back. When the telemarketer explains that they cannot give out their HOME number, you say "I guess you don't want anyone bothering you at home, right?" The telemarketer will agree and you say, "Now you know how I feel!"

Insist that the caller is really your buddy Leon, playing a joke. "Come on Leon, cut it out! Seriously, Leon, how's ya been?"

Tell them to talk V-E-R-Y V-E-R-Y S-L-O-W-L-Y, because you want to write down EVERY WORD.

Hey, i'll try this one next time! I think i might even ask them how you spell out one of the words they'll say..lolol

But u know, i always want to get off the phone with them so bad that i'm not sure i'd want to play around with them..

Here's funny stories.. I had learned how to say "yes" in Indian.. They say "jee".. So one day, when i was living with my family, some indian telemarketer guy called with a heavy accent. So i decided to play around with him.. At the beginning, he spoke "english", but then as soon as i said "jee", he started to speak his language.. And so i decided to increase my "jee's" and i also added excitement to my voice! I didn't know what the hell he was saying, but it was alot of fun just saying "Yesss! JEeeeee, jee! Oh jeeee! Jjeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!" lol

Funny thing is, his excitement was mounting with mine! hahahah

Another time, some other indian guy called us, and my mum picked up. So when she heard he was indian and couldn't understand what he was trying to sell, she just told him straight off "Wrong number!".... So he said "M'am, how do you know its wrong #??" , And so she just flat out said "BEcause i don't know anybody indian!" lololol I don't know what had gotten into my mum that day! lolol

Well think about it this way-you're getting 5 irritated phone calls a day which you can choose to ignore or hang up on or be ugly to them. This person as their JOB has to make hundreds of phone calls a day where they're cussed out, hung up on, or treated rudely. I would say that probably starts to wear on them a bit.

i get annoyed with telemarketers too. i just chose to hang up on them or not answer at all. im sure they dont like their job anyway, they're just doing it until they can find a better job.

I almost did it in college-they offered a lot of money but I didn't think I could hack it...one of my friends quit after 2 weeks!

well I reckon they get pretty thick skinned about it...cos if I going home miserable every day cos I was getting hung up on or having ppl be rude to be I just wouldn't do that job....

so no...they don't give a toss about me and I don't care about their 'hurt' feelings when I hang up on them....
