HI, I got approved for my spouses VISA we did direct consular filing... there was a problem, and we had to go back later to pick up the visa and the packet. I, in a moment of stupidity, opened the package, and now I am reading that it had to be sealed! Now I am not sure what to do, I know we have to go back to the embassy, but has anyone been in this situation? do they only have to reseal it? We are a little panicked, because we leave in a week and a half, and they have not been the most helpful at the embassy! Please if anyone has been in this situation, or knows the best way to go, any advice would be helpful! THanks!!

ps.. no one told us and we were not informed not to open it, I should have seen the fact that it was sealed, but i didnt

Take the brown envelope back to the Embassy or Consulate, they will inspect it and re-seal it.

There is a notation on the envelope as well as seal across the flap on the envelope that says something like "To be opened by immigrations official only"

I am really hoping that that is all that will be required... unfortunately, our envelope did not have anything like that written on it, only a seal, and then a mans name signed... but nothing about being opened, or not opened, only a name... but we will see tomorrow, I am going to the embassy and hopefully getting it all resolved

Yeah, I hope that is all thats necessary.... There was nothing written on our package about only to be opened by certain people... there was only a man's name, and his signature... i dont know why! If there was something written about only certain people opening it, surely I wouldnt have even thought about opening it!
