What about Vegemite, only available at Brit shops or?

Why would you want to eat that?

A couple I used to associate with came back from Australia with some of that junk and told me how I needed to try it. "It's great," they say. "You'll love it," they say.

PS - anyone that tells another person to try vegemite should be kicked in the shin.

All you need is a modest house in a modest neighborhood

We have several types of dill pickle chips.

Great! Where can you get them, and I'll add it to the list.

I really didn't know it was an issue to get them. You can walk into just about any store down here, convenience stores included, and buy a bag of them.

I prefer Zapp's Cajun Dill, by the way.

thought that was Australian

It is, my parents tried to get me to eat sandwiches with Vegemite on them for school when we lived in Australia but I just couldn't do it. Stuff is freaking nasty...

Ive never seen it in person, just pictures... Cant say that I ever want to try it...

I live in a big city so there are a lot of Eastern European people (Ukranian) to hold up the perogie market. Every grocery store sells them. Potato and Onion, Potato and cheese, Potato and etc. Yes the grocery store are in the box, you can get them in a bag too. Try looking for Ukranian/Russian grocery stores and you should find a lot better variety...

They're hard to find here too. And so is kielbassa. I finally found a Polish Deli about 30 miles from here, so my husband stops by there for me on his way home from work. (Yay.) Can you find a Polish community quasi close to you? They usually have home cooking sales for great prices. Plus they have a great network of service providers too. (hair, esthetics, car repairs, home repairs, etc)

They like to do that to the uninitiated

I don't know where or when I first tried it, probably as a child in Australia, then in NZ, it's something you neeeeed to have - if you like it of course :)

I know about them and I don't even know any Ukrainian people - they are in every freezer section in every grocery store

I'm Ukranian blooded and I'm craving them badly lol. I've been to several grocery stores in my area and I can't even find them. My niece tried making them, but I wasn't able to try hers. I guess I'm going to have to learn how to make them myself lol.

I wouldn't know how to make them from scratch, but seems like it would be fun to try. I take it (I like potato and onions myself). I'd boil some potatos and then mix that up with some cooked onions or something and then that's where I get stuck. How would I make the doughy part? Flour and water and ? As you can tell I've never really baked or made things from scratch before. But this might be kind of fun to try...
