Timeline

We submitted the I-485 in January.

It was received by USCIS Feb 8, 2007.

They sent us an I-797C and the receipt date says Feb 12, 2007 and the notice date says June 6, 2007 stating that they were transferring it to California Service Center. We live in NY but sent it to the Chicago lockbox.

We had the biometrics done on March 21, 2007.

Everytime I check online it says pending.

It is now January of the year after we filed and still haven't received it.

Is this normal? If not, what do we do?

Its not unusual. You are likely stuck in name checks. It can take a long time to clear.

Have you received your EAD or AP? You should have gotten them roughly 90 days after filing. AOS, especially if stuck in name checks can take years. But you can renew AP and EAD as needed.
