Did you buy your ticket before or after the interview?

I think you have made your point plenty of times  But as everyone says, it's up to the couple to take the risk. For me, I have the same situation as JeffMayeth. I think it is more economical for me to pay the rescheduling fee than to book a flight that is close to the interview date. I want to be with my Patrick as soon as possible! Lets put it this way, I paid $710 for the ticket before interview ( a good price for Manila to Fort Lauderdale flight) . If I book it after the interview and schedule the flight 2 weeks after the interview, the price goes up to $1600 something for one-way (ROUND-TRIP is CHEAPER! - go figure! ;) ). So, there you go... I chose to buy before the interview.

 But as you said, if you are not comfortable buying the ticket before the interview, "To each is own." You have the freedom to buy the ticket whenever you want :) That's the beauty of it all!

The bottomline is, I want to be with my baby already. I miss him so so much! :luv:

Yes I think I made my point clear plenty of times.. Just for the sake of people and the risk involve...

Hey some people are different and I respect that... But don't judge my opinion of trying to encourage people to buy their ticket when everything is clear..

Not everyone here is like you to just say.. sure throw me that re-scheduling fee.. What's couple of $$$ right?

And sorry some people here including me don't like to throw money for some re-scheduling fee..

Trust me.. You can find a good deals, you just gotta know where to look..

Just my 2 cents..

maybe this week nalang.

-jyz (F)

But it think buying it before the interview gives you an advantage, for it will be your reason for visa pick-up.

Isn't it, Sis Lheds? :D

In our incident, I guess yep sis Jyz..Thats one of the valid reason.. :D

Well, in our case, we are confident enough about our documents and our bona fide marriage thats why we take the risk..Incomplete documents, not so convincing relationships and medical failure are the reason for visa denial..If you are confident enough that you dont have those reason then go and take the risk..But if not, just wait for visa in hand.. Just my 2 cents.. lol :P Good luck guys.. :D

you're right lol embassy isnt that bad (based on my experience anyways). i brought everything that i should needed to bring. 10lbs worth of evidences... memorized all the facts, dates, names everything. yet it only took them 3 mins to interview me and i was like, that was it? hmmm sweet whew... lol... just be prepared and be honest to yourself and to your answer coz they can smell if somethings fishy going on...

here's the thing, ive talked to a couple of lawyers and some people at st.lukes (people who worked there and people who're selling outside the clinic) that once you've pass the medical exam then you're 95% or more that you're gona get the visa (im talking to k1/k2/k3/ir-cr types)... the only thing you do is be prepared for the questions and have a complete docs... of course prayers help a lot too

;) I just want to survey how many purchased airline tickets/bookings before/after actually passing the interview? We are about to purchase and I want to know YOUR experience/s?

:P Is it worth it to buy before passing the interview (worst come to worst, we can pay the $50 to rebook the flight)?

or wait after the interview (but our target date for him to be here is Feb 15, his interview is Feb 7th! It would be too expensive to buy after the interview because it is s close to the flight date)?

Now I can officially answer this survey..I bought ticket before the interview leaving on March 11 POE-Detroit (DTW) via Northwest airlines $802.00 with a $50 for reschedulling fee..For me, it is a deal! Remember, every case is different, and I took the risk  ..I'm really hoping, they will approve the visa pick up..Goodluck to everybody!

I purchased our tickets before the interview which is March 13, Tickets are for 23 March, since I live in Guam not a big deal to pay $50 to have to change the flight. From what I have noticed most people have been getting theres within a week, Our house is in Pampanga so I guess we'll be using the flight out as a reason to pick up the visa rather than have it mailed since Manila is only 70 miles away.

8 months of waiting is almost over, Good thing I can visit every month from Guam.

I will be attending Joy's interview, so I bought a round trip ticket for me. About 2 weeks ago, I purchased a one-way ticket for Joy on the same flight as my return so we can travel back to the US together a week after the interview.

Yes, I am gambling that the embassy will approve the visa and allow us to pick it up in time for Joy to make the scheduled flight. It is, however, a calculated risk. If I wait until we have Joy's visa in hand, I may not be able to get her on the same flight as me, or the price may be prohibitive. So, we are rolling the dice. ;)

Marc

I did it similarly. my return is more than 2 weeks after the interview

Well, my gamble paid off. Joy's embassy interview was on Feb. 7, and I puchased the tickets for both of us a month in advance to fly to the US on Feb. 15. Joy's visa was approved, and she and I will be picking up her visa at the embassy on Monday, Feb. 11 at 10:00 AM. We will need to get the CFO stamp later that day (she already obtained her guidance and counseling certificate), and so we will have a few days to kill before departing to our home together in San Antonio, Texas. Sometimes it pays to take a risk, bite the bullet, and expect the best.

I hope everyone is as fortunate as we have been.

We bought our tickets before the interview.

We allowed for 12 days for after the interview.

We planned to fly back together

We had to rebook the flights.

We paid rebooking fees and price difference.

I ran out of vacation and had to fly home.

The visa was finally delivered 19 days after the interview.

We had to pay rebooking again.
