Hello Everyone,

I'm only a few months away from becoming a U.S. citizen. After I obtain my U.S. citizenship I’m planning to petition one of my parents because I want my minor brothers and sisters to come and live here (minor 21 years old and below). I’m planning to petition either my mom or my dad so that they can petition and bring my brothers and sisters here in U.S. that are 21 years old and younger. I want to petition my parent first because it's faster and after my parent get settled here then we can process on petitioning the siblings. After my parent gets the visa and move here in U.S. how long does it take before my parent can file petition for the siblings?

My parents are separated for more than seven years now but their annulment is not yet finalize. Okay this is the current status of my parents:

My dad has 4 minor children inside my family (these are my brothers and sisters) but got 5 more minor kids with other ladies.

My Mom has 4 minor children inside my family (these are my brothers and sisters) and got 1 minor kid with other guy that she doesn’t see anymore.

About my brothers and sisters I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters the others are grown up but 4 are ages 17, 15, 12, and 10 years old these 4 are the ones that I want to bring here through petitioning one of my parents because I think that they have a better life here and they deserve that life after all the heartbreak that they felt especially the two youngest growing up with out the care of either mom and dad. Ok I know you are wondering now why…ok, this is what happened:

After more than 20 years of being together my parents decided to call it a quit. My dad cheated first that’s why he got 5 kids from other ladies. Then just 7 years ago my mom did revenge that’s why she got 1 kid from other guy now. Now my dad couldn’t take it so he filed annulment. My mom couldn’t afford to take care of any of the kids so she left all the kids to my dad and left away. My brothers and sisters lives at my dad’s house right now but our dad has live in partner away from home where he sleeps most of the time. So basically they all just live by themselves at my dad’s house with dad’s financial support, he visits them once in a while.

Anyways, who do you think I should petition meaning with their status with all the minor kids inside and outside our family who has a better chance of getting a visa? Is it my mom or my dad?

Also, about that Affidavit of Support…I read that my income should be at or above 125% of the federal poverty level which I pass. But petitioning my parent that has minor how is that Affidavit of Support gonna work? Is that mean that I have to multiply the amount by 5 (parent + 4 minor kids?)

I really appreciate your time reading my post. Any suggestion and help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jen

Have you actually asked them if they are interested in moving to the USA?

Would they wish to abandon their childen for years?

Say 1 year for whichever wants to to get their Immigrant Visa.

Say 5 years for a visa numbers to become available.

Who is going to support them when they are in the US? Do they have skills or resources.

Then say another year to wait for their immigrant visa's.

Is that mean that I have to multiply the amount by 5 (parent + 4 minor kids?)

Yes, but its not your income now, but your income in 7 years.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I want to clarify this item below.

5 years for a visa numbers to become available? I read on the uscis website that when you petition your parents they are not going to be put on the waiting list like when petitioning brothers or sisters? It still take that long?

There is no wait for visa numbers for parents.
