Hello VJ'ers

Packet #3 was sent from the US Embassy in Bogota on 17 December to my wife. She has not received it as of today. I received my copy of the "cover letter" that comes with the packet...dated 12/17/07. She has called the Embassy with little success about finding out where it might be???? They asked her to send a FAXed letter with her case # information and home mailing address. She did that 10 days ago...and, nothing has happened. I FAXed two letters asking the Embassy for a response.

She has the DS-230's and OF-169 forms completed. Everything is ready to FAX...but the packet I think is "lost" in the mail Should we just go ahead and FAX these forms into the Embassy? The contents of Packet #3 are well known and she has 99% of the information needed for her interview.

I'm looking for any suggestions about what to do...or not what to do!!

Thanks,

Craig

Hi Craig,

I'm really glad to see that you and Karina got your approval and are well on your way to an interview. I would recommend that you post your question in the Colombia Club thread of the foreign embassies forum. You will find a lot of helpful people there that can answer your questions.

I'd say fax it.

We ended up receiving our Packet 3, but we would have probably been better off just faxing it. We waited because we "just wanted to be sure" and that was good. I am glad we waited, but now we are wondering if we will squeeze in a February interview.

Since the cut off is the 15th-20th you will most likely get a March interview. You can probably wait a little while longer and still get a March interview; but the sooner you get your interview date, the sooner you can shop flights.

Craig, glad to see things moving along for you. Sandy and I had our interview on the 18th and where approved, no problem. I personally faxed Packet #3 to Embassy from USA, no problem. Sandy never even recieved packet #3, it is not nessecary. Our interview was expedited I would say by one month because I faxed packet #3 once I confirmed from DOS that the embassy had our package. I suggest you read the Colombia Club thread as all the information you need is there. Good luck to you.
