USCIS Hiring retired agents?

I was told by a relative who is also going through a USCIS petition process that the USCIS is hiring back retired agents to help with the petition backlog. Supposedly, a news story on Latin television stated that USCIS is hiring back 700 retired adjudicators to avoid the delay in training new employees. I guess it could be a temporary measure and it seems like a good move.

Has anyone seen anything about this?

On a related note, here is a USCIS publication about the backlogs and their efforts to fix the situation. There is an interesting chart that shows the gigantic increase in applications last year. This article is mainly related to naturalization, but the content applies to other types of USCIS petitions.

I'd recently retired from US military and had gone back to work for them again as a Federal civilian employee. From the time I was on terminal leave I had submitted my resume to many of Federal agencies. I also get daily email updates on Fed job openings...and many are of Homeland Security (USCIS). Yes they are hiring.
