I hated Disco (with the exception of Abba  ) but that is where the girls were. As a horny 20 year old most men would endure any shame to get some. Here I am going out on the prowl in 1977.

For some odd reason I like disco music a lot better now than I did back then. I was more of a hipster back in the 1970's. Disco didn't really impress me.

One of the albums that come to mind during that era was Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton. It definitely wasn't disco and most people that were around then probably have it in their music collection. It was very popular and the radio stations played it constantly in the mid 70's.

Humble Pie, Deep Purple, etc. was also standard hipster music. Lots of others, but those come to mind.

I never owned platform shoes, wore shag hair, or had any pimp daddy 70's polyester clothes. I owned zero disco albums back then.

2411994129_b8c2381537.jpg

Hipster clothes. 100% cotton. Hair in a ponytail. Backward gimme cap. Cheap cowboy boots. Levi bellbottom cords. Definitely not disco.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

I used to love that music also.My parents had a whole slew of those albums around the house. That Frampton album was wild.Especially the song that went "Do you do,feel like I do."I LOVE the part when he sings along with the sound of the electric guitar.

Yeah...that was a trademark of Frampton. I don't know what sort of device he used to get that effect.

Peter Frampton has reappeared on Geico commercials lately (at least in my area). Definitely a blast from the past. Here is a link to the Geico commercial. He does his, "Do you feel like I do" routine in the commercial. It brings back memories.

THE TALKBOX - what the heck IS that?!!

That weird 'talking guitar' sound you can hear on 'Show Me The Way' is produced by a gadget called the 'TalkBox', that Peter first came across in 1971 when he heard a pedal steel player using it on the sessions for George Harrison's 'All Things Must Pass'. Peter was so impressed that he found out where he could get one from - a company called HEIL Sound in California made and marketed them. Peter got his first one in 1974 and has been using one live since then!

It works like this: A small audio speaker or high end driver is enclosed, air tight, into a metal box with a hole in the top where a tube comes out. The guitar is plugged into an amp, but the speaker output is routed through the TalkBox. Then the signal is routed back from the box into the amp again. So, the sound from the guitar is sent through the box, up the tube to a waiting mouth, where the sounds are manipulated by Peter, before being picked up by the microphone! So by this method you can mouth the words while the sound of the guitar replaces the human voice box....hence the name TalkBox! Of course, Peter doesn't use the effect on every song........but you can hear it lately on the album 'Frampton Comes Alive II' on the song 'Can't Take That Away'.

WARNING: The only bad thing about the TalkBox is that it rattles your teeth around!
