I'm gathering up the financial evidence just have a couple of questions. I currently attend college full time, therefore I'm not working or haven't working for a while now will that affect the interview? Another thing is I'm going to use my mother's income tax returns now she makes 30K annually with 3 dependents is that ok? or will I need another co-sponsor?

Her income will need to be at least 125% of the federal poverty guidelines. I found these at http://liheap.ncat.org/profiles/povertytab...08/popstate.htm . Thus, if your mother's total household size is 4, that means she will need an income of $25,812 to meet the required 125% mark.

If my assumption of "4" is correct, your mother meets the requirements to co-sponsor. Her I-134 and supporting evidence should be all you need. (don't forget that you are the primary sponsor and will also need to fill out an I-134)

Does the prospective immigrant need to be included in the list of dependents? I saw somewhere in this board that it does therefore making it 5 people?

Yes, so you are right. I was incorrectly assuming the "3 dependents" included the intending immigrant. She would need to meet the requirement for five people, which looks like it will be pretty close in your situation... If her income isn't enough, she can make up for it in liquid assets equaling 5 years the deficiency of her income. For instance, if she's $1000 below the requirement, she can show $5,000 of assets to still be "ok" .. There is more detail in the FAQ. Some sources state that it's only 3 times the deficiency, not five. I'm not sure which is correct. Hopefully your mother can qualify either way.

Thanks, I got another co-sponsor besides my mother who's more than willing to help so I'm going to see how that goes.
