It is good to see the GSD is third and the Beagle is fifth. Fine breeds , they are. I see a lot of poor breeding these days. Oh how I wish breeders would just breed for the betterment and be strict according to the breed's standards.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Yeah, shih tzus are. They are very delicate dogs though and get variety of illnesses no common in other breeds. They are expensive too, especially females and high-maintenance.

I love Golden Retrievers. I love dogs and cats! Oops, this is a dog thread :P

800px-Dog_meat_hotpot.JPG

Plate of dog meat prepared for hot pot dinner in Guilin, China. The plate contains roughly 750g of cooked dog meat, seasoned and garnished. Note tail as garnish on left hand side of platter.

For the curious, dog meat tastes more like pork than like beef/chicken/lamb/venison/rabbit/horse, but has a somewhat distinct flavour. There are a lot more bones, so eating it is more like eating chicken than pork, albeit with a much tougher, fattier skin. Sadly, the restaurant used a rather free hand in seasoning the dinner, so my report of flavour is an approximation - it tasted more like soy sauce than anything else.

I like Doberman Pinchers, they are so fun and playful and was easily trained.. At least the one I had years ago.

Had a lab and that dog ate my lawn (yes, he acually "ate" my lawn and destroyed it), chewed the siding on my garage, destroyed my garden and could not be housebroken. He would stay up all night barking at whatever, the wind, his shadow. He would always try to escape and wreak havoc on my neighbors yards also. He got away once and was hit by a car. Damm dog :(

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

The drama begins - again!

And now the drama ends - they took the Green card . . .

I'd love to have either a German shepherd or lab.

I was surprised to see that the pug wasn't on the list cuz I see lots of them but it might be a regional thing. I think they are popular here in Chicago.

I love dobes. They get such a bad name as mean dogs because they're easily trained. My brother had two. We took care of the female for a while when my brother would go on drug ops. She was so sweet. She would sit at her food bowl and watch the birds eating her food. I'm talking inches away and would never go after them. The only time she ever hurt anyone was when I was playing chase with her one day. She lost her grip and took me out. I was laying on the ground in pain and she was standing over me smiling like "that was fun!"

Hurrah for retrievers!

My parents have flatcoat retrievers. They're a little different from labradors and golden retrievers: Absolutely beautiful, but also absolutely stupid. Very friendly, though, and fantastic with children.

I'm glad to see so many 'big' dogs on the list. I was a little afraid it'd be dominated by the pocket-sized breeds.

The best dogs are hounds, hands down. My loyal, loving, moon-eyed coonhound mix is the best dog I've ever met in my life. (Not too bright, though.)

I can't wait to get my Doxle (Beagle/Doxle mix).

PS I'm totally against breeding. The easiest way to breed out genetic defects? Mix with another kind of dog. Jezuz, people. We don't need dogs to do work for us anymore, so why don't we top breeding them? There are already enough dogs out there without homes. I know this will probably upset some people, but I think breeding is a selfish practice. Long live the mutts!

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
