Just wanted to add... as long as you return back to Canada and have not stayed in the US for over 180 days in the last 12 months you should be good.

You will have to have your medical done by one of the panel physicians on the list provided you on your packet 3.

Good luck.

You have to go back to Canada for the interview and medical exam anyhow, so how is a trip back to Canada "needless"? You can't have your medical exam done in the US, it has to be done by a panel physician in Canada. You also have to personally go to the RCMP or police station to apply for the police certificate, they don't do those by mail.

And as mentioned above, Montreal does not accept faxed copies of the checklist, you have to mail it to them.

thanks for your feed. I will go back for the interview but I didn't want to make a trip back for the package 3 if all I have to do is mail paperwork back. I will do the police report and medical when I know when the interview is and I'll just go back to canada afew weeks before the interview and get that all done. I have to wonder.....why can't I get the medical done down here. He is a civil surgeon who is also working for the USCIS just like the doctor up in canada. What do you think?

I never did the K-3 with my IR-1, but just a thought to keep in mind. I did have to send in my police cert. long before my interview, I can't remember with what papers i had to send it back with... But they needed it before my case went to Montreal..... Maybe things have changed.

the process is different for K3 and CR1/IR1. For a K3, the beneficiary brings all of that with them to the interview, it does not get sent ahead.

You have to have the medical exam done in Canada because technically you're not supposed to be in the US right now. The civil surgeons in the US do exams for immigrants who are in the country adjusting status, not who are applying for immigrant visas from outside the country.
