The Interview--What Will They Ask?

Hey, all. I got the NOA2 in the mail yesterday, and am now trying to get everything ready to go in advance for packet 3 and the interview. I've got a copy of the application ready for him, have asked the IRS for tax transcripts for the last three years, and am filling out the affadvit of support. (I think this process is going to give me OCD...) : )

But when the interview arrives, what sort of stuff will they ask him? He's asking me that, and I have no idea. If anyone who's been through it, especially in London, could give me a heads-up, I'd be most appreciative.

Also, I was planning to visit him in the UK this summer anyway. Would it be at all useful for me to be present for his interview? Would they even want me there?

Thanks.

You could search for 'interview experience', you can look at www.kamya.com/interview for experiences or scroll back through the Embassy forum for examples.

Most of them will be quite short. :)

Cheers, Jasman. I figured it would be stuff like that, and we know most of that stuff about each other anyway. The "are you a terrorist" question made me laugh; I can honestly say I've never asked him that, although I can't say I'm worried about his answer...

I just found the Embassy Info section, which has answered a lot of my questions. I should probably just calm down and wait until I hear from the NVC.

Hi there,

I had to wait for about 3 hours in total and then was only asked about 5 or 6 very simple questions which really just seemed to be filling the time the guy (who seemed a bit grumpy) needed to stamp and scribble on various bits of paperwork before declaring me approved for the visa.

So - just in case anyone does a search for 'London interview questions' sometime in the future and finds this thread - I'm sure you realize that the list the wonderful jasman has reproduced is a collection of typical questions from loads of different interviews, not all are asked at each interview! Mind you, if one was trying to pull anything dodgy ... well, who knows!

As many have mentioned before, one's nerves before the London interview usually seem to be much worse than the actual interview itself - almost everyone reports a pretty painless experience, if you discount the waiting room itself. (I would highly recommend taking reading material and some food/drink as well.)

All the best,

Sheila

Sorry, I fell foul of the stupid 5 minute editing limit ... again ... :ranting:

Anyway ... I was going to add that you (the USC) certainly can go along to the interview in London if you want to (as long as you take your passport with you for ID) and I know a lot of couples do attend together. However, there is no requirement for the USC to be there in London, unlike some more problematic countries. I suppose, if there are any special or peculiar circumstances involved in someone's case, it might be worth the show of strength. Anyway, we decided in the end that Kyle (the USC) wouldn't fly over and it proved not to be an issue at all.

Hope this all helps and good luck to your guy when he goes ... not that he'll need it, I'm sure. :)

All the best,

Sheila

I attended the interview with Wes last September. You just need your passport with you and they will let you in.

PS - You don't need three years tax transcripts unless you are self employed. All you need for the I-134 is a letter from your employer and pay stubs.

All Nigel was asked is where we met. I wouldn't even call it an interview. It's really more of a paper processing situation.

I'll bring, or give to Barrie to bring, a letter from my employer, the pay stubs, the tax transcripts, and my last bank statement. I'll probably be wildly overprepared, but I'd rather have too much documentation than too little.

(He keeps telling me to relax, and I keep trying to listen...)
