The latest on Darfur....

UNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir may be charged with genocide, the Sudanese ambassador to the United Nations told CNN.

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court may seek an arrest warrant for al-Bashir, charging him in connection with a five-year campaign of violence in the country's war-torn Darfur region, the ambassador said.

The warrant would make al-Bashir the first sitting president to be indicted by the ICC for genocide.
