Hey LovinLiberia,

Are you a member of the Napptural hair website?

Yuppers! Proud member of www.nappturality.com :D:D

Are you?

Oh really? No, I'm not a member. I saw your sig under your Avatar. That's the reason why I asked. I just happened to browse the sites on natural hair care a few months ago and came across Nappturality. It is a nice site on how to care for natural hair and the different styles. Do you have to pay to be a member and see the pictures? How long have you been a member?

Charles, read a couple pages back, from page 100..........I was talking about Peter, the guy in Perseverance's office dressed up with Uno's inner diva outfit striking a vogue pose on the cat walk.......just thought you would have a pic somewhere to go along with it. After all we so enjoyed your hairy man before, now we need a visual of Peter.

how's this? :innocent:

hey Destiny ;)

Hey Omoba

I mentioned Cipro because I just had to use it recently. Last week I decided to eat cole slaw that sat on the counter for a couple hours and I chased with a kebab from the outdoor vendor. But besides that Ghana is great.

Oh I bet you are having a wonderful time. Let us know how things are going with the wedding plans !

So you must be natural, too? I've been natural for almost 3 years. Yes, nappturality is very nice...there is an abundance of information and tips (almost overwhelming). No, you don't have to pay to be a member to participate and see the pictures. A lot of people have photo blogs set up to document their journey and most times they will publicly give out the passwords to their albums. I have been a member since I started going natural...so about 2.5 years now.

OH ME OH MY!!!! :content: THE FUN I COULD HAVE IN HERE!!! ;)

:angry: Get out of our thread, TROLL!

who is Omar???

Omar is my " waiting to get an embassy interview in Dakar " buddy.

About the rat in the toilet.

Here is the full version.

It was in the middle of the night, we were sleeping and of course I have to use the bathroom again !

There was no electricity but by now I was brave enough to go in the dark. Half asleep I walk down the long hallway and attempt

to enter to use the toilet and there I hear slash splash in the toilet bowl.

I run to Stevphen ( your fault Zainab ) and say honey there is something splashing in the toilet to which he very sleepily relpies

oh it's probably just a ......( those things that crawl on the walls, can't think of the name ).

I grab a flashlight and shine it into the bowl and there is a black fuzzy looking thing in it and it is alive and taking a beauty bath in the water.

It also chewed up our precious toilet paper roll. ( You know that's like pure gold there for me ! )

Now I race back screaming it ain't no.....whatchamacallit ......it is moving and big !

When he heard that he flew out of the bed past me so fast like lightening and when I got there he was attacking a big rat with

a toilet plunger, knocking it upside the head and flushing it into the abyss !

My hero

It had come through the pipes from the outside.

Ah yeah .....we had some fun there.

I'm HORRIFIED Sabine. How could you do this to me right before I go??????

:help:

Ah no worries, just pack a plunger B)

LovinLiberia,

Yes, I've been totally natural since December 07 because I finally transitioned out of the relaxer. I never experienced such strong and healthy hair before becoming natural. It's great being "au naturale!" Have you posted on the site? Maybe you can give me some tips. I have 4a/b hair. Extra thick with a lot of shrinkage!

Ahh, I'm getting all warm and fuzzy inside. I'm glad another unsuspecting victim was converted from using the "crack", LOL. You just started your journey. Did you do a big chop? Did you do it yourself? I did mine myself and one of my friends helped me with the back. I know what you mean about the strength and healthiness of it. Perms were making me hair weak and super damaged and it started shedding ALOT. That was one of the reasons I decided to go natural. My natural hair grows much faster than when it was permed. I transitioned through microbraids and even now I mostly wear it in braids and protective styles like twists. In 2005 my hair was less than an inch and now it is past my shoulders (when it hasn't shrunk). It's weird how being "au naturale" gives you a whole new appreciation for hair and yourself. Yes, I have posted on the site, but I am a big time lurker. I usually get involved in swapping/buy hair products with the other members. You can get barely used/new products at super cheap prices. I'm a big time product junkie and my bathroom is ridiculous, lol.

A great place to get a lot of basic tips is www.motowngirl.com Have you been to that site? It is very user friendly and I recommend that site as a beginning point. You and I have the same type. Mine is CRAZY THICK and it shrinks way too much. After I wash it, it will be a small afro, but low and behold when you pull it, it goes far, LOL!

Mmm Hmmm! It does give you a new appreciation for hair. Girl, talk about mini fro after washing! My hair has always been thick, but now that it is all natural it is way thick! I didn't do a big chop. I was too afraid of wearing short hair. I was doing mini chops on my hair. When it grew out inch by inch I'd cut the old perm ends off until they were all gone. I love messing with the NG too. lol! Although, I did wear braids for a good long while while transitioning. I didn't like braids too much either because after I took them down I'd get a lot of shedding. I know that shedding was normal after braids, but I just couldn't get used to it. I used to do my own braiding. I have never had [i]healthy and natural hair before. I also never thought I'd say those two words in one sentence either, natural and healthy...and it's getting long! I've had perms and jheri curls pretty much all my life. I had the Jheri curls up til high school and then I got a perm during 12th grade up til December 2007.

I think I will check out that Motowngirl site and see what it's all about. Yep, that shrinkage will fool anybody. Once you stretch it, it is like abracadabra! I've learned that S-curl spray is the bomb for my hair as well as Aubrey Organics shampoo and conditioner! Product junkie is and understatement for me. I have a whole closet full of junk and a big box full at the bottom of my closet. I think I will sell on Ebay.lol!

Interesting ladies!!!!! I too have been toying with that same idea and have felt the same way you both have. I have permed my hair since age 13 and I was one of the ones who would go to see my hair dresser every week. It's been about almost a year since I have seened her. I have been doing my own perms and my hair is not doing all that great I thought about doing the natural thing so many times and would go about two months without a perm. Then it would get to where I could not deal with it and I would just perm my hair again. I am in fear I guess because I know nothing about caring for unpermed hair and how to get it managable or how to style it. Hopefully I will get up enough nerve to go ahead and do it. I plan to check out those sites also. Thanks for the tips!!!!!

I really want to add onto this discussion, but I have to run to the post office to drop off our AOS RFE evidence. I'll respond when I come back this afternoon. I just wanted to add a picture to show how shrinkage can definately fool you. This is a picture of my friend. She gets her hair pressed every few months and as you can see her shrinkage is out of control, LOL:
