I noticed on the USCIS' website that they are still showing, posted December 14, 2007. I also noticed that they "update that monthly" to show which application date they are working on.

I filed my I-129F for my German Fiance and received my NOA1 on January 9. We want to start planning our wedding. Is an August wedding too much to dream of?

It makes sense to keep your plans as flexible as possible. You may be one of the lucky ones and have your petition approved with light-speed, but if they want to they also can make you wait the full six month or even longer....seriously, nobody can tell. VSC claims to be processing the petitions by the received date, but that doesn't seem to be accurate at all.

Keep your plans as flexible as poss...! Good luck and a SUPERSPEEDY approval!!!

August is not unreasonable, but it is cutting things a bit close. In any case don't spend any money (reserving halls, caterers, etc) you can't afford to lose, to include money spent by relatives and friends who would be flying in. USCIS isn't the only place you could be stuck. If you're stuck in name check, that could delay your interview anywhere from several weeks to even a year or more in the worst case. Obviously this isn't typical, but it can happen.

As you can see, VSC is moving fast, but it is too difficult to predict how long that gravy train will last VSC filers. Best bet to do what Mox suggested, he knows what he's talking about in this business. I'm not sure how much stock you could put on the USCIS processing times because I know there are folks on here that are outside the parameters and don't receive special treatment other than VJ'ers feeling sorry for them.

I would wait to plan until you have your NOA2. If your interview gets scheduled right away, and your fiance is ready to come immediately (wow are you lucky!!) ... go visit the judge and have a ceremony when you're ready and you're sure its safe to schedule it.

I bought a wedding dress, assuming it'd take a while to be ordered and then I'd only have to have it in the house for a month or two...

Its been in my house for 4 months. USCIS is unpredictable at best. I thought I'd get married in February. I'm thinking maybe in October, now.

Yes, wait until you get your NOA2. A whole lot of people have gambled and lost, both time and money, by planning too far in advance. August certainly IS possible, but it's not a safe bet by any means.

If your heart is set on that big fairytale wedding, you may have to push back the wedding date, and therefore the date of your SO's arrival in the US.

Or, have a simple ceremony up front, and have the big reception, with a non-offical ceremony for show, later on.

Either way, don't lose sight of what is really important - that the two of you get to be together in the end! (L)
