We are getting ready to file for AOS. While reading instructions for I-765 employment authorization, I've noticed that it is possible to e-file it. Has anyone done it before? Or do we need to file a paper I-765 if we file it concurrently with I-485?

Thank you!

Yes, it has been used, but it's kind of pointless. The e-filed petition has to be followed up by other paper documents and passport photos, so it doesn't seem to save any time.

I got through to an officer at the help-line (the customer service person escalated my call) and she told me they would take my photo at my biometrics appointment so I didn't need to send passport photos. I e-filed my EAD last night and when I checked the status this morning it was already on the system:

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On January 24, 2008, we received this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Yes it can be done,I myself would not do it though due to the fact that you have so many other documents to submit with the AOS.I would just send it "all in one go"
