I've emailed the Consulate a few times because I was concerned about not recieving the Interview letter and the list of things I need to bring for the interview. I still haven't recieved it... but here's the "conversation" through email.... It seems to me that they are assuming my case is not a K3. Am I reading wrong ?

Can anyone help me in letting me know aside from the interview letter what I need for the interview ?

Case Number : MTLXXXXXXXXX

Name (P) : XXXX, CATXXX XXXXX

To whom it may concern,

I am sorry to bother you again. I have recently recieved information by email that our K-3 interview was scheduled Feb. 08, 2008 at 8:30. It also said to wait for the letter. I have yet to recieve this letter, and I was hoping that my address on file was correct, as I had in changed by email this past December.

My current address is :

12234 XXXXX

XXXXXXXX , QC

X1X 1X1

I just wanted to be reassured that I would recieve this letter soon, as it will help greatly setting things up for the interview.

Thank you again for your time. I hope your Holiday season was a merry one. May 2008 be filled with health and happiness for you and yours.

Best Regards,

Response

Hi, If you do not receive the letter on time. I am confirming that your interview date is 08Feb.08 @ 8:30. thanks

My email response

Thank you for confirming with me.

Are there any documents in the letter that I need for the interview and that I can obtain elsewhere in case I do not have this letter ?

Thank you in advance for your time

Best Regards,

Catxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx

Montreal response

Yes, you need to go for the medical exam to one of our physicians on our list if you have not done so. thanks

My response

Yes I had my medical examination in December.

All I need for the interview then is the medical examination ?

Thank you

It sounds like they are just giving you quick answers - that last reply is a IR1/CR1 reply, as you know, I would email once again to clarify with them.

Good luck!

I'm not familiar with all the K3 stuff, but don't forget in addition to those Pkg 3 docs and medical, I assume you need $$$ for the fee at the consulate perhaps and originals of any documents (birth certs etc...). basically bring a case file of everything you've filed thus far.

ooh, also the Canada post envelope...syou can find the size somewhere in the Canada forum.

You can also print all those emails and bring them along.

You really will not need them as you are already expected at the front door.

They know who is coming. :D

And if the front door security does not have you on some list, they call upstairs and get the okay.

No need to worry.

Do not bring any bags or umbrellas or cellphones, etc. along.

Put your all of your paperwork in a plastic bag.

I remember going to the Vancouver U.S. Consulate a couple of times over the last few years, and even in the pouring rain, I walked there with simply a notebook and a pencil.

The had not let me in with my umbrella and I had to go back home. Can you believe it? So I showed up in a Gortex, dripping wet. I was all too happy to put that wet thing in their tray for scanning.

And I shook my hair out, getting water everywhere. Hee hee.

They won't even let you in the front door of the consulate unless you have your interview letter! I'd phone them and speak to someone who knows that the hell they're doing so they can find out where your letter is.

There have been other VJ members that have gone to MTl with no interview letter, just an email (as Lona.C stated)

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Gonna hope for the best then. I've been delaying taking care of certain things because I still haven't received the interview letter... such as making calls to cancel utilities and what not... booking Upack for the move 2 weeks after the interview. I'm don't think anything could go wrong, but I wanted to wait until after the interview to give my official 2 weeks notice at work seeing as I've worked there for over 10 years.

So... I suppose I'll start making those calls tomorrow... Here's to hoping everything goes well :D

I finally got a response that makes sense! Hooray

Seems I can bring a copy of the emails and it will be sufficient :D

Please see below

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From: XXXXX [mailto:xxxxxx@xxxx.com]

Sent: Tuesday, January 22, 2008 9:09 AM

To: Montreal, IV

Subject: No interview letter

Case Number : MTLXXXXXX

Name (P) : XXXX, CATXXXX XXXXX

To whom it may concern,

I've recently been notified that my K-3 interview was on February 8th at 8:30. However, I have not recieved the letter, which is required to enter the Embassy for the interview itself. Will a print-out of the confirmation of the interview date be sufficient for the interview ? Yes

Also, I have been contacting your office by email.... perhaps too much. I'm sorry if I am being bothersome, I just really miss my husband and want to be reunited with him. The last 2 emails I have recieved seem to indicate that my file is not a K-3. Is this just a confusion ? No, your file is a K3. Sorry if you misunderstood.

I did apply for a K3 visa and the checklist I sent to Montreal was for the K3 visa.

Im really sorry to have bothered you again. I just want everything to be okay, and to be with my husband soon. I hope that is understandable. According to our record everything has been received

I thank you for the time you put into answering my questions. And I am again, terribly sorry for bothering you. I hope you had a plensant week-end and that you will have a good week.

Sincerly,

Catxxxx Xxxxxxxx
