Hey everyone....just had a quick question that has been driving me crazy.....my fiance got her packet from montreal....she proceded to complete the online and the written forms....and mailed it back to Montreal...which we tracked and was received just after x-mas....

here is the question part....she just had her medical this tuesday...1-15...she did what the checklist requested completing everything on the list...the medical was the last item....so she mailed the checklist back today(once again...what the checklist said to do)....so when do we enter the waiting list....from when we sent the packet of forms back?...or now that we have mailed the checklist back?....does everyone just jump then gun and mail it back right away?...did we lose out on about a month becasue we did what was requested of us?....just ranting a bit...but I am also really curious....will we get anything back right away?...or will we have to wait a couple weeks just to get the interview date?....I have seen that wait times are down a bit from what they once were...lets keep our fingers crossed this holds true....Thank you for any info....

Frustrated and STILL WAITING..lol...

Hi Scott,

We aren't doing a K1, but my understanding is that you can send the checklist back and then do the medical (at least it is what most people seem to do).

I would think they won't schedule anything until they have the checklist saying you are ready.

You might want to have a look at Liz's K visa Montreal timeline to interview (just click on the link in her signature) to get an idea of wait times.

You can find Liz in this thread which also relates to the K1 wait:

that's right Scott!!! you should have mailed ALL the forms and the checklist at the same time......I mailed packet three back the very next day and since then have easily collected all the pieces needed for the interview. It will be at least 6-8 weeks if not more :crying: before an interview date and that gives one plenty of time to get all the checklist items while you are queuing for an interview date!!! so you will only begin the interview queue once they received your checklist.

sorry

Dont worry about loosing a month in the process. The is no rhyme or reason to many of the immigration stuff, so who knows, it may actually be faster, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
