Oh, that is a beautiful duvet, maven. Hmm, would it be cheeky of one to put one on my birthday or Christmas list, do you think?

wow, they have silk filled duvets in John Lewis.... :help:

it's a lot of money, but wow. I bet it would be really snuggly, and quite light and airy in summer.

very tempted.

gotta save for moving.

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

I've been not spending for ages, whilst working my ####### off... doing the same, ie not spending, whilst lying about the house watching DVDs, or digging my garden, or similar, will be absolutely excellent ;)

If there is anyone who can keep herself sufficiently entertained, it is certainly you, StP!

Just got back from the doctor's -- I have an infected earlobe. (For those who met me last week, that's why I kept the left side of my head covered as much as possible with my hair!) It's not as bad as it was last week when it was 3 times its normal size and magenta, but still, ewwww. I am a giant earlobe freak.

Oh, that is a beautiful duvet, maven. Hmm, would it be cheeky of one to put one on my birthday or Christmas list, do you think?

I agree with Tash -- never too cheeky! And Poiteen -- the silk duvets were honestly not that great, in my opinion. A little too insubstantial for snuggling purposes.

PS: It was 90+ this weekend in LA. Silk would be just fine for most of the year! ;) It sounds lovely.

Well the great thing about john lewis is they have those sample ones that you can have a good feel of before you commit to any one duvet

Have you felt the silk one? I'm curious what it feels like - Is it really fluffy? Or silky?

It was neither -- I tried them all on Wednesday morning. It felt a bit floppy and bleh, not much to it. I initially thought I would get the silk one, thinking it would be lightweight enough for LA. I liked the Hungarian Goose best in the end, as it was really, really lightweight (2.5 tog is below the normal summerweight ones) but still had that indefinable snuggle factor to it. The silk one didn't feel as comfy. I'm sure it is great, but it didn't check all my boxes. Actually, neither did the Hungarian Goose one -- the Siberian Goose one is the absolute BOMB but it costs accordingly. I used to have one (back when I was married to the rich solicitor) and man, I wish I had held out for that in the divorce.

Hi all

Never been in this thread before, just wanted to say hi to fellow brits and their spouses/families. :D

Today is exactly 4 months since we began the CR1 journey. I was hoping (foolishly I know) we'd get NOA2... I must have OCD about neat timelines or something :lol:
