If you lived in my neck of the woods, I'd be very happy to have you guys over for the holidays! I host both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner at my house. Book tickets now and you could be here for a white Christmas!

I know where you're coming from Aly. All but one year our routine has always been very similar, lots of visiting, church and lots of meeting up with friends in the pub that you haven't seen all year.

The year I didn't have that, I spent in Miami with C. C's mom is a nurse, and was working christmas, so we were celebrating the day after. St. Stephens day (boxing day) was really lovely, but on actual christmas we just sat around felt very unfestive, and went to Denny's!!!! :crying: for dinner. From C's point of view, it was just to get fed, with little fuss, since the celebration was the next day, but I went tho the bathroom and had a little cry. I was so sad to be missing christmas.

I'm going to try a little harder to do something nice this year to not feel so terribly left out.

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

We're still cooking, and my mother is whingeing in the kitchen about how my father and I are apparently doing nothing. She is now complaining about Christmas 2006, for some reason. The three dogs are going coo-coo nuts, wanting to be near the food. I burnt my hand getting the roasties in the oven. The food better be good or I am going to have a seasonal nervous breakdown.

All right! It was worth it in the end. The turkey was moist, TONS of two kinds of stuffing (sausage and vegetarian), roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, peas, maple-glazed sweet potatoes, roasted vegetables in balsamic reduction (thank god for Trader Joe's), cranberry sauce, vegetarian gravy (from Tesco!) and rosemary ciabatta rolls. We still have homemade apple, cherry and pumpkin pies. :star:

i'm eating my pumpkin pie right now, yuuuumy. Dinner was chicken, stuffing, creamy roasted sweet potoato mash, french bean casserole and cranberry sauce. Just making it made me feel a little more festive.

Hope everyone settles in for a peaceful thanksgiving nap in New Haven :P

Hope everyone had a good day! It appears that Jeremy's family can't make it down at all now so it is just going to be me, him and his crazy aunt. To top it off, they both have to work early on Boxing Day

I'm so fed up with the whole thing I figure that food-wise we will prolly have ham or whatever Jeremy normally has but I will make my infamous prawn cocktail (we didn't get to eat it yesterday so we are going back to Jeremy's grandparents' another time to eat it :D ) for starters, we will have crackers and Christmas pudding and pressies in the afternoon... although we'll prolly have to open J's fam's in the morning for when they call... it is going to be so weird...

My dad made a party game compendium but three people isn't going to really cut it - will have to figure out some simple board games that Cheryl will be able to get her head around like snap  We can't even play team trivial pursuit

I think we need to adopt a family...

Ok - I sent an e-mail to an agency advertising jobs on careerbuilder.com and attached my resume. I got this back:

I have just begun the process of reviewing resumes for this position. Unfortunately, due to the volume of resumes received, I am only able to contact candidates who will be interviewed.

I wish to thank you for forwarding your resume and please remember that you are most welcome to apply for suitable positions advertised by Power in the future, if you are not successful on this occasion.

With kind regards,

I'm a little confused as to what it means, but it kinda looks like an automatic response - "Thanks for the info, we'll contact you if we're interested" sort of thing?

What do you all reckon?

I think it's telling you that you'll only hear from them again if you've been shortlisted and they won't let you know if you haven't.
