Oh, I always voted absentee, even for the piddling little local elections back in my hometown. I just haven't had the chance to step in a booth for a while, at least when it comes to presidential elections. I was out of the country for election day last year, so voted absentee then, then finally got my chance to step into a booth for the first time in over a decade when I voted for Hillary on Super Tuesday.

Apparently, when I was at Aly's on Saturday, I told her husband I had something very important to tell him about Obama. What that was, I have no idea -- the red wine prevented me from actually saying what it was!

Jeremy thought it was hilarious because apparently you whispered and sounded really serious about it all!!! I of course was "sleeping" at that point...

I like the trip to the polls too. If that makes me a nerd, so be it. :D

Aopparently Griff likes it too, since he went with me on Super Tuesday and has now specifically asked me to wait to vote until tonight so he can go with me. Although he can't yet vote, he like to feel a part of it.

Nicky has been nerding out on me too. He's been taking pics of the polling place (it's a school behind our building) and posting them on his facebook like he's a spy LMAO.

I went over at 6:15 this morning to vote...there was a long line, and it took me about an hour total. Not counting the two election judges getting in a fight because they couldn't decide whether to give me a provisional ballot or some other type of ballot.

H wanted to go see it but could not be stirred at 6:30 when I left the house.

I remember when I used to accompany my mother to vote as kid there used to be a curtain - I wish we had a curtain. It makes it seem more dramatic.

We still have the curtained machines here in Erie County NY! I (L) them! They do lend an aura of mystery, secrecy and importance to the election process.

Sadly, I did read that they no longer make these machines and are having trouble getting parts for ones that break. The curtained voting booths are an endangered species. :(

Nope, no update. They would need the person to start soon, so I think I would hear today or tomorrow.

I went to the polls with C, no line at all. although it was just past 12 so I guess it was a lul between the morning rush, and lunchtime. It was fun though. It was the little book and putting ink on a paper ballot. Pretty good system I think, at least there's a paper trail.

Pointy, did they give you an indication of when they'll have an answer for you? As Tom Petty so wisely sang, The waiting is the hardest part! Good luck!

Julez -- that was totally my anthem last year when we were DCFing!

If you were to do a search of my posts for April 06 you would find a post with all the lyrics. It's the official USCIS anthem.
