Well, my daughter and I will be going to the interview on Feb 1/08. I have booked our room at Tour Centreville for the 31st of Jan. We will be flying in order to get home in time for her other commitment.

My letter states that our interview is at 9:30 a.m. If we go to the consulate at 7 a.m., we should get through prior to that, right?????? I'd like to have an idea so I could book our flights. I'm hoping to be able to catch the 11 a.m. flight home.

Am I dreaming in technicolor or is this a possibility?

Gonna be very tight. If you line up at 7, they'll let you in at 8ish. Getting out by 9:30? I saw one couple do it but it is mighty dicey. Most people got out by noon. Montreal morning traffic was bad, assuming you're taking a cab to the airport, you'll be in for a crawl. 11 AM is doable but requires the confluence of several favourable factors (quick interview, fast processing, no traffic delays). Don't bet on making an 11 AM flight, 2PM is much safer.

book a later flight, the process isn't that quick even if you get their early. in my experience, it takes longer if you have more than one applicant.

my interview was for 9, got there at 8. first call wasn't till 10, i got out at 12:30.

go with the 2pm flight.

I'd book the later flight as well. as a Native Montrealer, I've learnt not to trust our traffic or weather conditions.

BTW, see you there - Evan & I have our interview scheduled for 8 a.m. :D

ya, its probably a 30 minute drive from downtown to the airport, if bad weather even longer!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
