NVC automated system

Well we have finally received the approval and now need to find out the case number at NVC

I am in the Uk and when using the automated system it gets tothe point where it asks for either the CIS or NVc number -to input the 10 numbers following the letters (if using the cIS number) and follow with the £ sign which is under the number 9 on the touch pad

Well not on my phone!! there is no £ sign and if I do not put anything in -they just say not traceable or something similar.

Question really is can we find out our number from this side of the pond or is it only my daughter who can access the system???

val... i'm sorry, but i don't have an answer to that question... i am sure that someone else more knowledgeable will come along with the right answer...

Typically, the '#' key just tells the computer that you have finished entering digits. An alternative is to not enter this digit, in which case the system will time out anyway. So the '#' just forces the system to process your digits more quickly.

Since it can't find anything for you, it probably means that they don't have it yet. Maybe you can follow other prompts on the menu system and talk to a real person?

My husband calls from Sweden and gets updates so yes you can call. It does seem to take a couple weeks though before they assign a case number.

The "pound" sign was confusing for Graham as well...

Use the "#" on your phone. Give them at least 3 weeks to generate an actual NVC number-it'll begin with LND-for London.

No worries...but, as we know-nothing is instant with them. 2 to 3 weeks ought to do it.

Thanks everyone, I thought it might just be that and their keys may be different than ours or something, so I guess that we have no number as yet, (knew it was a bit early but God loves a tryer )

I called NVC from England a few times, had no problems !! #<<<<<<tis the pound sign :yes:but cant remember what the # sign was from my UK phone

but ya can do it!! just try all buttons...

Hi Val - your case numbers should be on the letter which Donna gets approving the I-130.

Americans do not call '#' the hash sign as we do in the UK.

It is known as the pound sign.

What the sign is for and what the sign is, are two different things.

The hash/pound sign is indeed used to represent 'number'.
