Here's a link to Manila online newspaper that I read daily. You can see that PAL and congressmen are all upset over this and I think will make rapid moves to correct their inspection agency to bring it into compliance with international standards.

I flew Philippine Airlines late July 07 San Francisoc-Manila, then Manila-Davao and return Davao- Manila then Manila-LAX early August 07. Each flight PAL left on-time and arrived early. I thought security (which is actually an airport matter) was more than adequate with each flight.

When I go back to the Philippines to be at Mayeth's embassy interview, I will fly PAL again. I was very impressed with every aspect of Philippines Airlines service.

No, you can continue to fly the existing routes. What this downgrade in the PI airline inspection process does is to stop any airline based in the PI from adding new routes to the U.S., or changing numbers or type of aircraft on existing flights. The biggest thing it affects are some new routes PAL had planned that they can't do until the rating is changed back.

Philippine Airlines is the best airline in the world!

Take Philippine Airlines (PAL), KAPUSO na KAPAMILYA pa!

Let me tell you why.

1. Good food

2. More give aways (Playing Cards, toothbrush, toothpaste etc)

3. Friendly flight attendants

Other Airlines

1. I don't like the food

2. No give aways

3. Unfriendly flight attendants

Hahaha...the best airline in the world is the safest....I don't think free give-aways or even nice stewardesses alone will make me trust an airline to take me over the pacific ocean for 12 hours. I sleep most of the flight anyway since it's at night. Don't give me a toothbrush or any other FREE gift.....give me what I paid for...get me there safely!!! :)

^^^Safety standards determined by who????? Don't you know that Philippine Airlines uses American & European made airplanes (Boeing & Airbus)? Also, PAL's aircrafts are maintained by Lufthansa. If PAL is unsafe then all airlines that uses BOIENG & AIRBUS airplanes are also unsafe.

It's deficiencies in the Philippine Govt oversight of Airline Safety that is the problem. that doesn't mean Philippine Airlines is operating unsafe aircraft.

This advisory is referring directly to the Phils. Govt standards in oversight of their airlines. I seriouly doubt PA has changed any policies recently on how they maintain their planes. So I'm plenty confident flying Philippine airlines anytime any place

Read my post carefully. My post does not condemn PAL nor make any negative statement towards the airline. I'm merely distinguishing between safe airline practices (that may or may not include oversight) as opposed to free gifts in determining the safety of ANY airline. I never said PAL was unsafe. :)
