TRUE! I remember the survey. Kids shown a photo of George Bush. Their response, "Who?" Then the clown, "Oh, that's Ronald McDonald!" They even recognize him where McDonalds does not exist.

Amber, I taught American "Culture" at a high school level when I lived in Russia for a year. They do. They could all name the President, Vice-President, and many past Presidents. They do not understand why Americans don't seem to care about knowing such important things!

Think about it... Why are clowns sometimes scary? Well...for starters they're big! When you're a child, imagine having some big oaf with HUGE feet, and pajama's come up to you and talk in baby talk. Then there is the white face, huge nose, orange hair sticking out all over. AND they have a painted smile on their face! So it's not real. Then there are the clowns who I remember from my youth, that were not ex high school drama students...they were local men that were drunks! I remember a few that got down real close to me, and reeked of booze!
