Love the postcard, Olivia! That is so cute.

Thx!

Hi polarbear- any news on the PG yet? Curious mind inquiring. Oh and good morning as well!

Well, actually I need some advice in that area, and with so many pregnancies floating around I though someone here might be able to help.... And I appologize in advance for asking this on the daily thread

I know there are other reasons for Aunt Flow not showing up and I was very stressed a few days before she normally would have arrived. I haven't lost a sig. amount of weight  , or any of those other possible reasons, so it's 50/50: either I'm preggers or it was stress...

Okay, there is actually another possiblity: I just started new birth control a few days before the hubby arrived (lower dose so that it doesn't have so many negative effects on my body). Some people say that your body needs a few months for it to really be effective and sometimes you will skip a month when you first start. I have been on birth control for years, but have gotten pregnant on it before (exact same situation) so I'm a little nervous. And no, I didn't miss a day of pills - I have them next to the alarm clock and take them before I get out of bed in the morning.

How long should I wait to go to the doc. for a blood test? I took a home test and it was negative. I also went back on my birth control yesterday. Don't really know what to do.... Any suggestions? :help:

My guess is it's the pill. For questions like these though see a professional and get the blood test. You can always call " Ask a Nurse".

Yeah, I want to go to the doctor, but I have to find one first and request the time off work. I just got insurance and haven't been to a doc. here yet. But it's not too early for a blood test? I'm actually hoping it's just the pills or stress bc right now is really not a good time

I would call your doctor before you take anymore birth control pills since if you are pregnant you don't want to mess with that stuff. I would think that a lo dose pill would cause spotting, not a loss of a period. The high dose ones would cause the skipped period. Definitely call your doctor and I'm sorry for your loss. (F)

I'm on low dose pills and I often skip my period. My gyno told me that was normal.

Really? Then maybe that's the answer. I always spotted when on the lower ones and hardly got anything at all when I was on the higher dose.

The way the phlebotomist at the hospital explained it to me a blood test will show the instant you are pregnant and producing the hormone. Life always happens when we're busy making other plans. Here's hoping you're not then and blessings if you are. ((Hugs))

When I was pregnant with my daughter, the first blood test I had I was only 1 wk!!!! I about died because I was hoping to be at least 8. PB, those lower dose pills can make you stop having periods all together. I guess that could be nice, but I'd be freaking out every month!

My Mom just told me for my Spring Break vacation this year she booked us on a Cruise along the coast of Mexico!

 Whooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo!!!

We leave out of San Diego on March 8th! What did I ever do to deserve this?

 A real vacation to look forward to!

And it is such good news to turn around my feeling blue because I was also remembering today is one year to the day from the last time I saw Waleed in person and tomorrow, or maybe today already there in Cairo, he's reported to the military and they have him. :(

MHO is that if u have any inkling at all that u may be PG, stop taking the pill until you have confirmation either way. If u are, u could cause damage to the baby and if not, well..at least u were careful and doing the right thing. It is possible to miss due to stress (which is what they think is wrong with me even though i'm at 2 months and 1 week with no visitor) ANY change in meds could cause it as well. Starting a new strength of B/C can definitely cause a missed period which is one reason the doc might tell u to abstain from any ehm, "activities" for a week or 2 (or at least use alternative protection).

Go have that blood test to make sure. I'm abuot ready to do the same thing myself.

Hope everybody has a great hump day!!!

By the way, Amy, love the sig!

Who was it that posted the camel drinking a coke? I had soooooooooooooooooooo planned on posting that exact same picture when I got home today... good choice!

I'm not sure about that. That's what I did the first time it happened to me, and my gyno told me I should NOT have stopped taking my pills.

I'm afraid to stop, bc then it is entirely possible to GET pregnant :( I really don't want it right now so I don't want to increase the chances. Don't get me wrong, it's a blessing if I am and I would be happy, just really bad timing

Well if it would be bad timing for you to be pregnant now then I would think you would take the necessary measures not to become pregnant.

I found this article. Hope it helps :)

A missed period does not necessarily mean you are pregnant. Although it is unlikely, you may miss a period when you first start taking the Pill. As long as you've taken your pills exactly as instructed, a missed period is probably not a problem. Continue as usual with the next cycle of pills, but inform your healthcare professional. If you miss 2 consecutive periods, you may be pregnant. Stop taking your pills and check with your healthcare professional immediately. Until you know whether you are pregnant it is very important to use another form of birth control, such as condoms.
