Do I need to have 2 photocopies of EVERYTHING?

Hi,

Today I tried to have a final check of the documents that I need to bring to the interview. Then i read through some instructions again. The unclear instructions suggested that "i MAY need to bring 2 photocopies of the documents to the interview, in case the copies are damaged/ lost".

Yeah I have 2 copies of SOME of the important documents. BUT since there're SO MANY evidence, i wonder if i really need to take 2 COPIES of EVERYTHING to the interview? (NOTE: I've 2 copies, but one of them is at my fiance's place).

So for those who went to the interview, did you really bring 2 copies of EVERYTHING? there'll be a lot...

This is just me, but I would have extra copies of everything. Might be overkill, and some on here would agree, but ya never know....things get lost, damaged...just an opinion though. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. :)

I have not interviewed but we have 3 complete packages. 1 was mailed to the CSC. One I will take to the interview and he has one just in case something happens to mine. Better safe than sorry.

*January 24 2006 - mailed in I129-F petition

*January 25 2006 - I129-F received at CSC

*January 30 2006 - packet returned.....arggggggggg we forgot one signature!!

*January 31 2006 - sent I129-F back to the CSC, hope we did not forget anything else

*February 1 2006 - I129-F received at CSC again

*February 3 2006 - NOA1

*April 20 2006 - NOA2!!!!!

*April 24 2006 - Touched!

*May 15 2006 - NVC received petition today!

*May 17 2006 - Case left NVC today!!

*May 30 2006 - Received Packet 3 from Vancouver!

*May 30 2006 - Faxed back Packet 3!!

*June 6 2006 - Received packet 4!

*June 20 2006 - Medical in Saskatoon

*June 28 2006 - Interview in Vancouver!!

*June 28 2006 - GOT THE VISA!!!*June 30 2006 - Moving day!

*July 3 2006 - Home at last!!

*July 28 2006 - married!

*September 13 2006 - Mailed AOS/EAD package

Yeah I also have 3 complete packages. Actually I did the same as you. But that instruction made me wonder if I need to make an extra one to BRING to the interview... Oh well... :unsure:

Hm... I guess I may just photocopy one more set...just in case...

I would definitely make 2 copies of all your ORIGINAL documents like birth certificate, divorce, etc.

Hi Sleepybears,

No two experiences at the Embassy are the same. I have three copies of everything. I think it is better to be safe than sorry. If you have done all this work and waited all this time to be together with your fiancé(e) why not have everything that you need just in case? What happens if they ask for something and you do not have it? Are you willing to go back in a month to the Embassy again? It is up to you? :yes:

Quick questions on the documents needed for the interview:

1. for the W2 & tax returns- will photocopies suffice, or do they have to be originals?

2. I-130 approval notice & I-129F approval notice- do I have to send the originals to the beneficiary, or will photocopies suffice too?

Aug 29, 2005 - NOA-1 for I-130's received

Sep 13, 2005 - I-130's approved, petition forwarded to NVC

Oct 10, 2005 - I-864 Bill received by agent

Oct 12, 2005 - Paid I-864 Bill by Postal Money Order-$70 for whole family

Dec 17, 2005- checklist for I-864 received, reply sent back & entered into system on Dec 22.

Oct 20, 2005 - Alien spouse received DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) documents

Oct 24,2005 - DS-3032 sent to NVC (fr Phils)

Nov 17, 2005 - IV Fee Bill paid by Money Order & sent

Jan 3, 2006 - Mailed DS-230 to NVC

Jan 4, 2006 - DS-230 entered into system

Jan 12, 2006 - CASE COMPLETED, and still waiting!!!

Aug 3, 2006- schedule of interview at US Embassy-Manila. Won't be showing up.

September 2006 - Biometrics done

December 2006 - Interview; Green Card received by mail a week later

2007: Applied for kids' certificate of citizenship, got the certificates in June & passports in August 2007
