Is it ok to do a medical exam on a different schedule? My daughter and I are supposed to be having the medical on March 4 but I am planning to have an early medical alone as she can't make it (she is coming over to Manila on March 1). I called SLEC and they said its ok to have a different medical schedule even if we are in the same petition. Anyone who had the same experience before where K1 and K2 had medical on separate dates? Will it not affect the sending of results to the embassy?

I don't think it will affect sending the results to the embassy. Even if you do the medical separately as long as the medical passed, i don't think you should worry about sending the results to the embassy. Usually SLEC is the one sending it to embassy. Just make sure you have ample time to finish your medical before your interview date.

If you expect your period at the time of your medical, you might as well go for an early medical. It will be a wasted day if you will go there and they can't perform the tests on you becoz of your period. They will ask you to go back after you're done. But since usually the medical is scheduled a week before the interview, best to have an early medical. As long as you have the appointment letter already, you should be able to do your medical already. It's ok to have the medical separately. You can finish the medical in a day and then go back the next day for the results. I suggest you take your first day Tuesday-Wednesday so there will be less people.

Thank you T and A, I will have an early medical on February 19-20. I am praying it goes well

Thanks derrel. I appreciate your insights :-)

the reason why i posted my question here is to find out how VJs scheduled for March interview paid the fees.

by the way, i am aware that peso is the medium of transaction here in phil. really no need to explain how money is changed and used here. i was asking about the exchange rate because i am taking the money out of a dollar account. so when i go to BPI, i will have dollars in my pocket and not peso. On that case, it should be okay with BPI if i pay in dollars.

But with SLEC, they would require the peso equivalent. This is why i asked for the rate. Maybe someone who went to SLEC recently for medical exam noticed it posted somewhere.

If you are wheeled away in an ambulance, you probably didn't pass. If you are allowed to escape you probably did pass. You can get more information from other threads, not just the March 2008 Interview Dates, since some of our folks at VJ have already gone through the process. Do a little search at the top of the forum list. Lots of help there to tell what to bring. But do bring lots of patience and a happy disposition.

hi guys!

question here...

i know for a fact that we have to pay in peso at SLEC. What exchange rate do they use?

also, in paying for the interview fee at BPI, can we pay in dollars? or if we have to pay in peso, which exchange rate do we have to use? BPI's exchange rate?

thanks :-)

:-)

Did you know that you can type in a google search the following?: "100 usd in php" and it will give you a fairly current exchange rate? Read the disclaimers for more info.

- Derrel

ps... you can also type 145.71 USD in PHP and get that rate, or any amount you so desire. It just seems easier to put 100. Heck I even put my 2 cents in and get back .81 peso.

  • 2 weeks later...

any updates on where you are in the process now? I'm done with the Document Verification thingy (paid, texted and called Delbros just to make sure that what happened to edp333 won't happen to us) and attended the CFO seminar yesterday (met fellow VJer Lotterly). I'm planning to take my early medical on Feb. 27....

2-0. In favor of the boys.

Aappilee, Just as a second FYI on top of Derrel & Lai's comments, Please don't show up at SLEC with dollars in your pocket and expect them to exchange them for pesos at some then current rate. You have to exchange your dollars for peos at some other location first. When you are at SLEC, you pay in Pesos. BTW, current street rate for exchange is $1.00 = 40.60 pesos.

Good Luck to you for the medical and the interview!

Warm Regards,

Samby

Wishing Everyone Speed, Success, Happiness and Love,

TinTin and Samby
