Just a quick update - when last I posted in November there had been NO action on our petition at all. And we had sent it in May (of 2007). Thank you to all those who provided great advice and support - as it turns out, the Texas centre LOST our application. Plus, since then the Texas centre was no longer dealing with K-1 visas, and the fees went up. :( And, of course, the person my fiance spoke to could not to anything to expedite the process, nor grandfather us in under the old fee. Gotta love bureaucracy!

Since that time, we've resubmitted our application - it was received Dec 20, Merry Christmas to us! My fiance got a phone call today that while they have received the application (and apparently opened it!), they've lost his birth certificate. AGAIN. Despite the fact that it was 'checked in' when they checked the package. This is now the second birth certificate lost by visa centres, since, as you'll remember, the entire first application was lost.

I can't help but giggle at the insanity of it all... with any luck, we'll have the cheque cashed and a case number next week sometime.

So take heart to all of those who are frustrated (like me) - it's been nine months since our original submission, and we're STILL at the beginning stages of this whole thing. To paraphrase a great band I saw a couple of years ago, "you have to laugh at it all, because you'd cry your eyes out if you didn't". I raise my (mostly imaginary) glass to all waiting for visa processing from the US gov't. Cheers!

There's not a day that goes by that I don't remind myself that everything happens for a reason, and it all works out in the end.

And it does.

I have to agree that everything happens for a reason. But that doesn't make it any easier when it's happening - just when you look back on it.

Hope they get their act together and approve it soon. At least VSC seems to be working on cases (even if they're losing documents, at least they're working). CSC seems to have quit working this month.

I know the feeling Whistle, our 1st petition was sent end of April and lost also. We resubmitted in October. It is very frustrating, but we will get there eventually. Don't give up and as much as it is to live thousands of miles apart it makes our love grow stronger everyday (L)

All the best

Laurence

Can I just say it makes a refreshing change to read someone (trying) to remain positive despite the adversities faced?! I take my hat off to you... or at least I would if I were wearing one ;)

And yeah - I think things happen for a reason as well - it is looking like we *could* make our Feb wedding if the Embassy is super-fast but now we are going to wait until the end of June for me to move so I can be home for my mum's 50th and so we can both save more money and better prepare for my move out there :) It does work out better in the long run... :)

That's unfortunate... but at least they've got it now! Hopefully you'll get lucky now and get your application processed early by some random twist of fate to balance it out a bit.
