You really need to have the birth cert translated.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

yes i think the difference is the k3...you dont need the fiance forms. so maybe k1 IS still 100??? Im sooooooo confused..LOL

No, K1 is $131. Someone on the Sub-Saharan Africa board noted that last week her fiance went for interview and people were turned away for only having $100 and not the full $131. K-1 and K-3 are both non immigrant visas.

Ohhh Yes...AOS..yes..but is it mandatory for the interview?? thats my question...if not...we have time to translate it...as well as his university records and degree and all other important needed documents....I mean just for this interview is it a MUST have.

They told my SO the opposite and demanded the original translations at the interview, so he arrived here without bc he didn't think of getting more before coming and I reminded him too late (didn't know he had bought the ticket)

I would do it anyway and get extra copies for when he gets here ((shrug)) but every case seems to be so different

Why would you take a chance on not having a translated BC ? I do not care what Cairo or USCIS says. We all know they say one thing, yet demand another. Why risk your case? The game is, cover your blessed assurance at all times regardless if you think you are right or wrong. Remember, they have something you want. (Thank you, JODO for those words of wisdom).

Your welcome, Melinda.

I am not sure what is right or wrong in Cairo's opinion. All I know is what I have read. So I decided to be safe than sorry. We translated all documents below and sent back with our Packet 3. But we also made two translations of all documents so we would have them also if asked for again later. I Got this info off the Egypt site under Embassy Info right here off VJ.

What forms should be send back to the Consulate?

DS-156 NONIMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION - 2 COPIES

DS-156K NONIMMIGRANT FIANCE VISA APPLICATiON - 1 COPY

DS-157 THE SUPPLEMENTAL FORM - 1 COPY

OF-134 AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT FORM ALONG WITH TAX FORMS OR BANK INFORMATION AS NECESSARY

2 PHOTOS

COPY OF DIVORCE CERTIFICATE W/ APPROPRIATE TRANSLATION

COPY OF DEATH CERTIFICATE IF SPOUSE OR FAMILY MEMBER IS DECEASED W/ APPROPRIATE TRANSLATION

COPY OF MILITARY SERVICE RECORD W/ APPROPRIATE TRANSLATION

ORIGINAL POLICE RECORD W/ APPROPRIATE TRANSLATION

COPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE W/ APPROPRIATE TRANSLATION

PASSPORT

UNOPENED REPORT FROM THE MEDICAL EXAMINATION

RECIEPT FROM THE COMMERCIAL INTERNATIONAL BANK (FEE $100)

**DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY DHL ALONG WITH PREPAID ENVELOPE - IT COSTS APPROXIMATELY 48 LE IN ORDER TO SEND DOCUMENTS AND PAY FOR THE PREPAID ENVELOPE

Also, the fee for K-1 Visa went up to $131 On January 1, 2008. However, it says if you interview by January 31st 2008 they will honor the $100 CIB Fee. If you paid the $100 CIB fee and do not get your interview by January 31st 2008 your fiancee will be asked to pay the additional $31.00 the day of the interview. We got that info off the Embassy Webpage that you can get to also by going to Embassy Info here on VJ. Find Egypt click on it and when it loads at top there is a link for Embassy Webpage.

Good Luck to all

Cheryl

Im SOO happy to hear you are sending off packet 3 ...........yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :dance: We are sending ours out Wednesday or Thursday depending on the medical packet coming in. We decided to translate all his documents but will do it before the interview...that way we have them for interview..and AOS..but can go ahead and send out packet 3. We decided to translate all at once..since he will have his uni records translated as well...Seems Cairo is scheduling interviews 3-4 weeks from date we send back packet 3.

Cheryl...Email cairo..or call the Embassy and ask about your interview...I know sometimes these packets aren't mailed out..or lost in mailing system never to be received. Don't wait for them...

Good luck to all...we hope to have our interview by late February...in shaa Allah...

I just wanted to give all of you waiting for your interviews and packets some words of encouragement to just stay strong. I know some of you have been following our case and know that we've finally got a wonderous outcome. But it's taken us a LONG time to get to this point. JUST four years for the waiver process alone.

There have been so many nights that I have cried and it's been especially hard taking care of our son all by myself. But I NEVER lost hope that we would some how be together whether it was in the States or not. You just have to keep your focus and tackle each hurdle that comes along. I know sometimes it may seem like these COs are malicious and you may want to take it personal, but try to keep in mind that it's such a BAD system that is so overloaded and understaffed.

I would also encourage you to keep yourself as busy as possible, maybe doing some volunteer work or finding a hobby or something like that. I know for myself that it really kept my mind off the situation. I know checking websites and calling DOS and waiting for emails can drive you mad.

I HONESTLY wish for each and everyone of you to have a quick resolution to your case and be reunited with your loved ones. It's a nightmare! But KNOW that there is an end to it eventually. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!! (F)
