Ok, I am sure this question has been asked many times before. I have called all the phone numbers on the usis website, i have even called the foreigh embassy, and still I have no clue as to what the exact cost of the visa is going to be. I filed the I-129f before the increase in july. On the embassy website it says as of Jan 1 2008 the visa fee has risen from $100 to $131. My question is do I only need to send her $131 for the visa or will I have to pay $455 on the day of her interview as well? I just want answers, maybe i have not made myself clear to the operators, or maybe they just dont know how to answer my question. but i need :help: . The only information i can give is that when I called the washington office they have told that I have not paid any fees, I do not know what this means for sure but this is what they have told me. They then gave me a website link that has fees listed, and I am in the same boat I was in before. Do I or don't I? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks jerome

If you filed before the fee increase and paid that fee when you filed, then they won't expect you to pay another $455 bucks! You already paid when you filed.

The visa fee is $131 U.S. So your fiance will need that at the interview.

You are fine :)

Best of luck!

The next big payment is the $1010.00 for the AOS fee.

Let's Keep the Song Going!!!

K-1 visas are handled by two different government departments, and each has their own fee.

USCIS (Dept of Homeland Security) is $455, which you already paid.

Dept of State which does the interview and grants the visa, is $131. Which you pay before or at the interview.

That's a great point! On a top of $131 for visa (paid in ukr currency in the bank), she'll need $100 for a medical test - paid in American dollars. It's also $8 for the passport with the visa delivery and she will also need to buy a password to make an appointment for a visa interview -it's another $12.

I cannot think of anything else:) I'm in Ukraine also, and right now waiting for my NO2 reach the Embassy in Kiev.

Good luck to you:)!

If I am not mistaken, in Kiev you pay your visa fee at the bank when you are dealing with the Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV) unit, you pay at the embassy when you dealing with the Immigrant Visa (IV) unit. "K" visas are issued by the IV unit

YMMV

Are you sure it's paid in USD? I thought so, too, but after I had downloaded Information Packet from the Embassy's website I read this ---

"The total fee for EACH K and V VISA APPLICANT (including children) is $131 payable in Ukrainian Hryvnya equivalent only.

Beginning January 01, 2008 the fee for K and V visa can be paid only at the bank" ---

Anyway, I'll probably ask at the bank - it's right across the street from me and it's faster than get in touch with the Embassy's call center.

RESPONDING TO MYSELF  -- forgot to paste this part (it comes few paragraphs later)

"The total fee for EACH IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICANT (including children) is $400 payable in U.S. cash only. You can pay immigrant visa fee only at the Consular Section. You do not need to pay additional immigrant visa fee if it has been already paid at the National Visa Center.

Please, do not pay your visa fees at the bank. The erroneously paid fees are not refundable."
