Hi everybody. I just got the invitation to my AOS interview today in the mail but now I was wondering. Shouldn't I have gotten an invitation to give my fingerprints or biometrics before the interview? I haven't received any invitation for that or do I have to schedule that on my own? I am so confused. Please help..

Hi Eveline,

You should have gotten a biometric appointment, and no it is not something that you schedule yourself, USCIS sends you a letter with time and place. But since you haven't gotten it there are two options.

a) You will get a biometric appointment before your interview

B) If you still haven't done your biometrics by the interview the officer who interviews you will order them and you will do them right after your interview.

If you don't have the biometrics by the interview they will schedule after. Good luck

So there is no problem if I don't give fingerprints prior to the interview? I know there is a letter the USCIS sent me but was sent back undeliverable (don't ask me why) and I assume that was the one for the fingerprints. USCIS however, hasn't managed to sent it back to me again in thirty days. I'm just worried that they are going to postpone my interview or something...

Don't worry about it. For my wife the biometrics letter came a month after the AOS letter and the appointment was also after the AOS - however the interviewing officer scheduled it for the same day (they can order it.) So, if you don't get it or it has been lost or sent back, ask the interviewer to order it for you. We got the Green card approval notice about 8 weks after the interview and Biometrics. Good Luck

MOTU: thank you so much, your post just made my day. So all I have to do is let them know that they should schedule the fingerprinting for me after the interview and everything should work out just fine, right? Did they let you at least know that you were approved as soon as the fingerprinting was through or did you just pray for these eight weeks? At least I will have three weeks of vacation in Germany after the interview so I hopefully will be too distracted with other things than worrying about the outcome of the interview :D . Thank you so much.

Just tell the interviewer that you never received the biometrics or its scheduled for later (whatever the case is) and ask him if he can order it for the same day. Our interviewer said it will be 3 or 4 weeks for the biometrics and then he will make his decision. So, I said, "Does that mean we will get our 'approval' letter in about 4 weeks?" - and he said yes. So, it was a round about way of saying that you are approved pending biometrics results. Oh, I tried an infopass appointment to get biometrics done before the interview but it was a waste of time (this was all in Denver, colorado) - And yes, we kept waiting for an answer but I felt pretty good about the outcome. Good luck

Hi there,

I'm glad to see you have nothing to worry about regarding the biometrics issue.

Just thought I would mention that people going through the DORA Pilot scheme in Dallas don't seem to get a biometrics letter and appointment until after their AOS interview. So they mustn't be concerned by that aspect of other areas' timelines.

All the best,

Sheila

I just called the information line and they also said that I can do my fingerprints after the interview but I should also keep finding out what the letter - which was sent back - was all about. Thanks again for your advice.
