Some people should not sing when they are emotional.

While I can't say I'm either a Syesha fan or a Syesha hater, I am amazed at how she's been able to slip through the entire competition. She's almost always either in the bottom 3 or criticized in some way on her performances. How did she make it past Carly? And even Kristy Lee? I guess she really is the dark hot horse.

There, fixed.

if it were up to ME i would get rid of DAVID A. he has a good tone to his voice but other than that....i don't like him anymore i've decided. i'm sick of his lip licking too! hahahaha I just don't see him on the cover of a pop album, listening to him on KIISFM and seeing a music video with him in it unless its a Christian Rock channel or something. So neeeeeeeeext!

otherwise i'd pick syesha to go. she needs to go start her broadway career or journalism career now!

i thought brooke's first song was HORRENDOUS but she redeemed herself the second time around. i love her when she's like song #2. i can see her having an album with a pretty good fan base.

I thought Jason was GOOD but nothing special. if he went back to his old style he would have been better (like simon said)

DAVID COOK is still my favorite. He's a star, he's professional, he's smart, he's cute, and he's the winner in my eyes. If he gets voted off tonight I'm DONE with AI. lol

I thought i was the only one who was bothered by his lip licking

Nope! Count me in too! Someone buy that boy some chapstick!

Still thinking a David2 finale though.

The guys at my husbands work love her because she is "hot"....lol

I assume that is why she is still there, but I liked her better than both Brooke and Jason.

This IS Brooke we are talking about, did you think she wouldn't cry? lol :crying:

Again I am amazed Jason is still there, I really don't like him as I am sure every one knows. I like David A, but yes he licks his lips a lot!

I didn't hear what next weeks theme is, does anyone know?

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Next week's theme is Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, so that gives them lots of flexibility. It will be nice to hear some variety for a change, rather than the artist of the week thing that has been so prevalent this season.

Regarding David A. & the lip licking. Its the kind of thing that in seasons past, Simon would have been all over a contestant for! He's historically picked on contestants for facial expressions and stuff, so I can't figure out why he leaves little David alone about the lip licking.

Yeah I also didn´t appreciate so many "artist of the week" weeks. Being just stuck with one person´s songs the whole evening? I like it when they give them music styles to sing...swing, blues, rock, pop, musical, etc... :)

We had this one guy in our 2004 Czech Idol. His name is Samer Issa. He did this lip licking sooo all the time. He didn´t win though I think he ended up 3rd or something like that :) After the competition he started working on himself much harder and is doing pretty well :)

American Idol Preview: Is It David Cook's Night?

If there's one thing American Idol has absolutely nothing to do with, it's rock and roll. But that's not stopping the show from adopting the official list of "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll" as tonight's theme. The good news is that, with four contestants left and each singing twice, there is an 8 in 500 chance that someone will perform "Mama Said Knock You Out." Come on, contestants! Do it for America!

Which songs will the contestants pick? Our best guesses are after the jump.

David Archuleta wandered away from his inspirational-ballad, wounded-puppy-heart tendencies with last week's "America" and "Sweet Caroline," so look for him to return to form. If he's not too intimidated by the feathered hair of Clay Aiken's ghost, he might try "Bridge Over Troubled Water," but we're betting that what his dad is currently punching into the Manipulatron 5000 is Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," which includes discussions of hate and war, both of which David Archuleta would like to stress that he absolutely does not favor.

Jason Castro, who escaped the boot last week only because Brooke White was melting down into a pool of plasma before our eyes, is likely to try to get the "Hallelujah" magic back by aiming for his stool-perched acoustic sweet spot. It's easy to envision him getting his seventies groove on with "Hotel California," but he consistently fancies himself more soulful than he actually is, so "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" also seems likely. He's already tried singing in French and Spanish, so the only thing left, really, is whistling.

Just as Syesha Mercado was itching to do the Whitney Houston version of "I Will Always Love You" during Dolly Parton week, she'll almost certainly chase her stated musical influence Aretha Franklin this week. She may pass up the much-performed "Chain of Fools" and "Respect" and go for "I Never Loved a Man (the Way I Love You)," which she can perform barefoot while standing on top of a piano and waving a lighter for herself. For her other selection, she'll need a big number to get the crowd going, and since "The Macarena" tragically is not one of the 500 songs that shaped rock and roll, bet on a feel-good upbeat song like "Reach Out I'll Be There."

David Cook is the one among these contestants who seems to be presented with a gaggle of good choices, to the point where he will be perceived as failing miserably if he doesn't hit two home runs. We're actually excited that he could pull out songs like "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and "The Weight" and smack the other three contestants around the stage with them. Mark it down: This is a David Cook week, and unless he accidentally strangles himself with the cord of his electric guitar, he finishes on top.

I don't like any of them. When Brooke got kicked off my husband started laughing hysterically!!! My oldest daughter said, "thats' what my daddy does too!"

so I looked at him and said, "she's crying!!! why are you laughing! can't you see how devastated the woman is???"

and he stopped and looked at me and said, "will she be died now?"

:P "Noooooo but she's not the American Idol now!!!".............to which he starts crackin' up again!!!
