He was incredible. I think Simon pretty much said everyone else should go home too.

They are going to have a massive makeover on his image, I imagine. He was kind of a giggly geek during the interview part. I kind of found it sweet and endearing.

Very similar to yours, Zee, except that I ranked Jason Castro higher cuz I still like him. I'm holdin out hope that he's gonna be good even without his guitar, although I'm not feeling all too confident about it.

I like Jason Castro, I just feel like he uses the guitar to mask his singing. I think he needs to focus more on that.

I wish they would take away the playing of instruments.

And I wish someone would blow me away. With that said, David Archuleta and Chikezie, to me, were the ones to remember from last night. David Hernandez was also really good. But honestly, they don't measure up to some of the male contestants from some of the other seasons. I feel like some of them are there more for their looks than their singing ability.

This why he will probably never be my favourite. He's been on stage before on different shows. He is no stranger to this business, yet he persists on the giggling, "You really like me? Gosh, shucks, really? Hee, hee, (covers face)"

STOP already! He knows damn well he has talent. You can show humility without the phony act.

It makes me laugh that they keep touting this as the best season ever of AI. I thought most of last night was complete #######.

I completely agree with eau xplain about David Archuleta's "aww shucks" routine. Someone teach him to be a bit more cool!

And I know this is going to make me really unpopular, but here goes. I think NO ONE should sing Imagine ever again! Although David Archuleta sang it well (as in, he has a nice voice) and he was much better than Ruben Studdard's "Imagine all the peopo" version, I thought the arrangement of the song sucked. Just was not for me. There are just some songs that shouldn't be tampered with, and that's one of them, IMHO.

Otherwise, the only notable performances were David Cook and David Hernandez. But there is just *something* about David Hernandez that really bugs me.

I think Jason Yeager and Luke Menard should go. Both were really awful. As was Danny Noriega!

But people who are really good have a dilemma - people tend to interpret your reaction as either false modesty or arrogance, depending on which route you go. How do we know that it's an act?

In any case, I find it endearing and he's so cute I can't see it wearing on me even.

ETA: Regarding the version of Imagine, I believe it was the Eva Cassidy version. I agree, not everyone's cup of tea to see that song covered.

OK, it is just me or does anyone else think Amanda Overmyer is scary? I've never been too keen on the way her hair is streaked but tonight it just looked really freaky.
