I emailed Cairo yesterday to find out if and when they had mailed out our packet 3 and they sent back all the instructions via email and stated to have my fiance collect that information and send it to them via DHL. Soooo, we dont need the actual packet 3? Just a print out of this email and our information will do?

See the following:

Dear Madam,

Thank you for your email message.

Please have your fiancé prepare the following documents:

1. Photocopy of passport (the original to be submitted on the appointment date)

2. Photocopy of birth certificate

3. Police certificate from every country where the applicant lived for more than 6 months since the age of 16 (not all are obtainable or required; call us at 02-797-2201 for further information)

4. Photocopy of military certificate (for men between 18 and 50 years of age)

5. An Affidavit of Support (Form I-134) signed by the Petitioner and notarized before either a notary public in the U.S. or a consular officer at the embassy (this can be done on the day of your appointment).

6. Petitioner’s most recent year of federal income taxes (form 1040 only). Please also bring the most recent W2 form and a job letter indicating current salary and length of employment

7. Medical exam for applicant list attached

8. Applications:

a. Two completed DS-156 visa application forms, you fill it online and print it through the link: https://evisaforms.state.gov/ds156.asp

b. Form DS-156K; you may also print it through the link http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/82063.pdf

c. Form DS-157, you may print it through the link: http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/79964.pdf

9. 2 photos face view photos with a white background for the applicant

10. A receipt of payment for the visa application ($100) from the Commercial International Bank (CIB) in Egypt .

Once he prepares the required forms, he should forward them via DHL courier service. Once received, we will review the case and schedule an appointment for his final visa interview on the first available slot.

Regards,

Hi - Things are a little different in Morocco - however - I received my husbands interview documents requirements (probably similar to your packet #3) via email..... everything was just fine!! And the best part was we did not have to wait for the delivery of the packet.... which if the mail in Egypt is anything like the mail in Morocco this was a lifesaver!!

Good Luck!

They have had a lot of problems in the past with people not receiving the packet 3 so it seems like they're trying to fix it by emailing. That seems promising that at least they're working on fixing their problems!

I believe this has happened to a few of us who only got the P3 in an E Mail. If that is all you are going to get from them, then that will have to do and it is fine. Except # 9....get about 6 pics.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Thanks, he has about 10 pics just in case...we got extra of everything.... Our petition hasn't been in Cairo long...but I emailed to find out after 3 days if packet 3 was mailed...instead of saying yes...they emailed the information...so who knows if it was mailed or what....is DHL not reliable in Cairo? Its not regular mail...I'd think it would be fairly reliable... I do know that fed ex... our first 2 shipments I sent had no problems..but the last one...they said his address wasn't right...(odd...it was the same one used in past..AND had his phone number listed..). So Im sure it was the laziness of the delivery driver or someone in sorting that just didn't take the time to find out information about the address.

I don't think the problem is with DHL.

Me neither, I think it's the consulate... if you go back and look at the pkt 3 info I posted (it's been floated around for awhile) this is exactly the email I got (well, with an extra statement about extending the approval bc it took so long). The attatchement with the doctor's info as well, I don't have a scanner.

Actually, I got 3 of those e mails and they had the medical attachment but never the statement about the extending despite my repetitive requests for information regarding that issue. And yes, I agree it has to be the consulate and not DHL, but that is something we may never figure out .

LOL, I think they only included that information bc I sent a document that was drafted by a lawyer (thanks to someone on the K-1 forum) requesting an extension based on their incompetency (the fact that it had been 3 months since they processed the file and no pkt3 and no contact). I included a copy of my NOA2 and sent the document by DHL and scanned it and sent it via email as well. My pkt 3 was a response to that

I know it's not DHL bc my SO got the pkt 4 with no problems

I understand now, thanks PB! Well, here is what's shady... as far as the P4 is concerned my SO did get that but he was told by the DHL driver he wasn't going to hand it over unless my SO fork over 50LE !

It's not that you feel you cannot ask a few questions in one e mail, it is that you know you will only get one of those questions answered.

Um yeah, another sh!tty thing about the Cairo consulate: they only send coorespondences by DHL, and the reciepient has to pay  They don't pay anything on their end. He will have to pay for anything they send him exept the visa (which he will pay anyway at the consulate after the interview)
