Q. How many calories make 1 pound of weight?

About 3,500 calories adds up to about 1 pound. This applies whether they are food calories coming in, or calories (burned by exercise) going out.

If you eat 3,500 calories more than your body needs, you will put on about 1 pound. If you use up 3,500 calories more than you eat, you will lose about 1 pound in weight.

Thanks. I've got to get scientific about this weight loss. I got some calculating to do.

So if I eat 1,200 calories a day, and lose a half a pound a day, that means I am burning about 2,950 calories in a normal day. That means I need to increase my activity and exercise more. I think I will try working out twice a day. I can't go down any further on the calories :no:

Check out calorie spiking as well. If you are only taking in a very small amount of calories every day, it will cause your metabolism to drop like a rock, and that will make weight loss difficult or impossible. If you take in more calories every third day, it will prevent metabolism drop.

Very very true Jesse :thumbs: ! If you want to lose weight and get fit...you have to think long term. And dropping your calories so low is nothing more than a diet and you will eventually gain all the weight back once you go back up to normal calorie intake. So don't think of lowering calories think of increasing your metabolism.

Hey I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Good points about calories and metabolism. The site mentioned not dropping below 1200 cal for sure.

Hubby gave me a cussin bout VJ :blush::( He dosent realize when I'm on the computer I'm doing other things besides gossiping :P I'm helping to develop my passion as a health promoter/ educatior. I'm studing to become a certified wellness coach, typing papers for classes, as well as looking out for information on immigration. B)

He asked mi if I have a computer boy friend :( Because It seems like I'm not with him or my mind is distracted. It is my mind is preoccupied with a lot of things right now.

Sauna suit.... That sounds like a good idea. I'm going to look into one of those.

My protein shakes are high in cholesterol :angry: Why doesn't it say this on the damn containter :angry:

Hi everyone,

I guess you can see, I like hanging out in your forum. I did not read everything but, I wanted to comment on the colonics. I have had them done. They are wonderful. They work best when you go to someone who can help you determine what is the best way to keep you healthy. The benefits are great. Bread, Flour or dough type of products cause more problems. Mainly bloating. I even talked a male coworker into getting them. You will see improvements in skin because of the toxins that are being removed.

When you have time to at home and want your own spa detox. Use 2 cups of epsom salt, 1/3 cup of peroxide, 1 cup of baking soda, A couple of drops of essential oil for aromatherapy. Get the water as hot as you can stand it. Sit in for about 20 min. After this bath you will sleep very good, Just remember to drink lots of water. Because you will sweat and it is detox. There are various nutritional supplements you will want to get while maintaining a weight program, because unfortunately our fruits and veges today are being produced in soils that are depleted of so many necessary minerals. So we have to add back what our body does not store.

Please make sure the person who does your colonic is certified. And sanitary.

I have studied some herbology, (not that kind) and nutritional supplements. Along with massage therapy. So I hope I can help someone out if needed.

Hey there and welcome.

I am certainly going to give colonics a try. I just know I have a lot of build up in you know where. I've even tried that lemonade cleanser beacuse it has worked well for a couple I know but not for me. I lasted all of about 5 days. My skin was a lot clearer and I did get rid of some of that lining in the colon, but I could not take it anymore. It's not healthy by any means. Bread, wheat in it's rawest form, and flour make extremely bloated. That spa detox sounds interesting might have try it, I do the baking soda already in very hot wateer, not sure if it helps anything but sure feels nice.

7.2 pounds in 4 weeks! WOOHOO!!!

WHOO HOO!!!! Congrats Shamonya and Jamie. I'm praying for a 3 lbs weight loss, and after that superbowl party at work on sunday I just don't know.

There was the older woman about 70-75 maybe 80 years old in our exercise class tonight, the woman was gettin it no lie!! I was like dyamn!!!!!! I hope I look like that went I'm her age. Even tho her mind wasn't all there :no::lol: She was movin it. Puttin us younger women to shame.

Congrats on the weekly weight lose ladies :dance::dance:

I weighed in yesturday I lost 1 lb. I also had them take my measurements I'm down 5 inches in the waist and 4 inches in the hips, my BMI is now at 31% which is 8% less then 3 months ago. I really need to do more excercise to assist in the lost of inches as well as weight :whistle:

Ok you really need to eat 3 meals a day and a couple healthy snacks (fruit, yogurt, nuts, etc). Try it you'll see the difference before you know it :thumbs:
