Hello July people. :D

It's been a really long time since I posted here. But I've always been here reading, and there are so many congratulations due to so many people, I couldn't begin to list you all individually. It's just nice to see a lot of happiness and forward progress after all these months.

On the tax note, technically you owe the US gov't taxes for life, but there is more to it than that. I'm not an accountant so I couldn't say specifically, but what I can say is that I lived in Canada for a year and a half and paid Canadian taxes during that time. When it came time to file my US taxes, I did not actually owe the US government any money, b/c I had been paying the Canadian gov't, and somehow that all worked out for me. I did still have to file the forms though.

So, IMO, naturalizing is convenient in that it gives you options to live in your home country or the US and not risk losing that green card that you've spent so much time and money trying to get. However, I can understand not wanting to become a USC, as my SO has absolutely no desire to do so. You do have to swear an oath renouncing allegiance to your home country (NOT the same as renouncing your original citizenship, that depends on your country and their rules), and that is something he will not do, which I have to respect.

Anyhoo, hello all. Nice to see you again.

Well when we included all our evidence, we literally included anything and everything we could think of (including proof of ongoing relationship which after 6 years was a lot of stuff) and all originals because whenever we have dealt with institutions like this in the past they require original docs - so all our memories and things are in that I-129f packet :( We didn't even duplicate anything - we just didn't know we were meant to until we found this place... :(

well that´s no fun giving them all the originals....i guess you have to say bye bye to those :((F)(F)(F)(F)(F)

Yeah - I think providing I don't denounce my UK citizenship then I can have dual citizenship when I naturalise... Hadn't heard anything about paying US taxes while abroad though... will defo have to look into that :P I can't imagine really settling down having to renew my GC every ten years either though - I would prefer to feel like I could settle down at last...

You only have to pay taxes to US government if you actually earn money in US. If you live outside US and have for example a US bank account with lotsa money on it, then you have to pay taxes from the interest profit, or if you own a land or rent something in the US. If you don´t then you have nothing to pay taxes from. Me thinks

I know!! Isn't it amazing how fast things move (unless you are weird like me) after NOA2?!

Part of me can't believe I have had packet 3 for over a month... part of me can't believe I am only moving over in June... 11 months after filing... just over actually!! BUT I also can't believe that it is only 3 months and 3 weeks until I move - how scary is that!? I changed my little ticker as I am sure that it is more relevant than a stab-in-the-dark- legal wedding date that really means nothing to me anyway

Well of course we want pictures from that wedding too! Also, since you've already got 2 weddings, we want a third VJ wedding. Actually, you really just need to take the show on the road. Swing up through Norcal and i"ll definitely buy a ticket. Make it after May and I'll buy 2 tickets! :D

By the way ladies, today is International Women's Day. So call and harass guy for not sending you flowers. It'll blow his mind. :D (Kevin, you have ***NO*** excuse!) :D )

Yeah I am thinking this might be the case - ah well, gives us an excuse to make more memories :)

Have decided on UK wedding reception venue:

Does that mean you are having the next wedding in UK?

Well we are having the evening reception in the UK with the first dance and all that because we didn't do that in the US - we will get another (cheap) cake and have a disco and things :)
