Someone in CSC is molesting my AOS. My EAD on the other hand must just not be as attractive, it's seen no action since Biometrics. I'm just getting kinda worried that I'm going to get a nasty letter of some description. Not bothered if it's an RFE for w2's, I'm expecting that.

Sat here waiting for nick's b'day present to arrive. Been on UPS delivery van since 5am according to website. At least I've had a chance to have a good clean up for my rents arriving sat.

Oooh cool! I am wondering how to afford a Christmas present for Jeremy and I don't even know how Thanksgiving is going to work... I mean do people get presents for both? It all just seems very odd to me...

At least one of your cases is attractive - none of mine are online still, no mail, no e-mail... nothing!! I guess we'll be on a tight budget a little longer...

There is no gift giving at Thanksgiving! Unless you are going to someone else's house, in which case you would bring a hostess gift - like a bottle of wine. You could also offer to bring a pass around dish if you are going elsewhere for turkey day.

Hmmm - ok then maybe it is just Jeremy's weird family... or maybe I got mixed up... I don't know - I know his family get together at Thanksgiving rather than Christmas so maybe they just do the present thing then instead or something? I don't know - this is going to be soooo weird this year At least next year we will *definitely* be going back to the UK for Christmas!!!

I don't know what is going on for Thanksgiving... Jeremy's family are dysfunctional at best so I very much doubt any of the family preparation/baking is going to get done...

In a way I find it quite sad. Because I haven't grown up here, I don't have any traditions and even though we can come up with our own, Jeremy isn't that bothered I don't think and I just don't have the ingrained American-ness to know where to start I am really worried that if we bring our kids up here that they will miss out on a whole lot because we won't know how to do things "properly"...

Ideas anyone? I mean - what is traditional for Thanksgiving in terms of what you do, how you do it, where you do it...? I'm pretty certain that Jeremy just eats out but I would love something a bit more traditional...

hey all!

i hope everyone is doing great. i have been very busy lately with school and work, but enjoying all of it.

we went for biometrics last wednesday, and then adriano left for ny on thursday night. that night i thought i was going to die. i had only been in this apartment a total of about three times without him being here (he was here a lot without me, but not the other way around), and it was very very strange. i am getting used to living alone again (i did so, with my kitty, for two years as an undergrad - - and loved it, thank god i still have him with me or i would go insane!) and getting used to talking to adriano on the phone all the time again. things are going just swell now.

he is staying at my sister's house until he gets settled, and they are getting along just great. i speak to him a million times a day, because he doesnt know how to say many things to her and her family in english. its really cute though how i hear them all interacting so nicely. his english has definitely improved, and they have noticed. he will learn much much faster without me there to translate everything for him.

saturday night he went out with some albanian guys from his old job and it made me so happy that he was so excited. he hasnt been able to do anything social with anyone besides me for three months!

i am going to visit in on the 19th, since we have a week off for fall break (don't you love school? lol), i cant wait! i figure that i will probably be able to visit once a month, and that he might be able to do the same once he gets settled. twice a month is MUCH better than the amount of time we saw eachother while he was still in europe (maybe about 3-4 times a year). this is much more doable. the tickets are really cheap from here to ny, so it wont break the wallet too bad either.

my studies have definitely improved, and i am spending a lot more time in the lab doing work (which i should have been doing before!). now i just need to find some friends here, because i have none. i have friends that i talk to when we're in class and at school, but nobody that i actually go out with or anything.

Oh Susie - I am so glad to hear that things are going smoothly - it's hard to cope with it all but at least you know you have made the right decision and in the end it will be better for both of you

I know what you mean about the kitties as well - my two are a godsend - Daisy on her own was a lifesaver as we went through a lot together but having the little one running around all over keeps me occupied when Daisy is sleeping! Of course, it makes it a rare treat when they are both asleep like they are now as I get a bit of peace!!!
