Biometrics shouldn't cost anything. At least, it didn't cost us and I haven't read of anyone else saying they had to pay for it...

Also, my take on why you have to have your fingerprints taken multiple times (and this is just my take, I don't really know why), is that they are verifying you are who you say you are.

And at the biometrics they fingerprint you much more thoroughly....which they havent done anywhere else before..

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

To check case status, is it the same place we checked for I-129F? (ie: USCIS website under 'case status')

Hi Susie! Yes, you go to the same place as before to check case status. You'll see the old 129f in there and you add your new cases to the portfolio and it is all fun and good. ;)

I am a bit jealous of those of you who filed in August since it sounds like you have a more fun group. I don't know anyone in June and just one person in July so they're not really fun threads; strictly business. And I mean, hey, I'm on here to have fun dagnabit, not check our progress or anything!

Course, the good thing about not being an August filer is that we are ahead of you. nyah nyah.

Hey Aly, just getting back to your banking issue and being iverdrawn. I know it stinks when a bank charges ridiculous fees! It hurts on so many levels to pay the bank that money. As someone who works for a large bank and understands the industry here in the US very well, I would recommend that you try quickly to come to some sort of resolution to the problem. If you leave the account overdrawn for too long a period of time the bank will charge off your account and report Jeremy's name (and yours if you are on the account) to Chex Systems. That information is shared amongst all US financial institutions and will make it all but impossible to open an account at another bank.

I know this is all new to you and I'm just trying to make sure you know the implications of Jeremy turning a blind eye to the bank problem. You can pay off the money and still battle with them to give it back. Do your best to make sure the account isn't charged off!

FINALLY got the AOS papers mailed off on Wednesday...they arrived today in Chicago. =]

We had to wait so long because silly me didn't have a thousand bucks lying around the house.

Thank god that's over with...sorta.

To check case status, is it the same place we checked for I-129F? (ie: USCIS website under 'case status'

That's the one - although mine still isn't showing online - some people have reported it doesn't show until after you get your biometrics done (which is about a month or so after filing it seems) although others seem to have gotten lucky somehow...

I am a bit jealous of those of you who filed in August since it sounds like you have a more fun group. I don't know anyone in June and just one person in July so they're not really fun threads; strictly business. And I mean, hey, I'm on here to have fun dagnabit, not check our progress or anything!

 We were talking recipes last time I checked in there :D I think it is us laid-back Julyers just taking forever to file!!

Oh julez trust me I know!!! The good news is that he wrote a check out for the gas so that went off today - he doesn't normally have a problem in dealing with bills, he just has no routine to paying them so it is all a bit hit and miss...

As for the bank thing - well he already opened a new account when I got mine with WaMu. He wanted to close the B of A account but they wouldn't let him and then this card company took money he didn't have so he got charged that plus fees from B of A. Luckily I am not on that account - we just have a joint savings account with WaMu and our own individual checking accounts with WaMu. I'd like to think he would pay it off but we honestly can't afford it so as that would involve a phone call to the bank to arrange to pay it off gradually or whatever, I don't hold out much hope for getting it dealt with anytime soon :( He doesn't "do" phoning, and if I call, they only want to speak to him anyway - plus I don't really have a clue what I am talking about because it is all his accounts and I don't understand how you could get into the situation anyway - I personally would have called the credit card company to give them what for as the transaction wasn't authorised. I did suggest this but...

Yeah - so I kinda let him get on with it - everything I suggest falls on deaf ears and our joint savings account is in good shape so it won't be a slur on me... I just wonder how we will ever get on the property ladder *sigh*

AAAAAHHHH!

Good news to share!! :D

Scott was just on his second interview with Patagonia. He said he felt like he hit a home run with every question they asked him. He said they have never hired a person straight off the bat into a full time position before (they normally start with part time first), but they are considering doing it with him. They even asked him about managing a store somewhere else in the US! To think, just over a week ago it wasn't even possible for him to work, and now they are going to be calling him back tomorrow about the job!

Plus, we were both worried that right off the bat he was going to need some time off (to go to our friend's wedding and then the very next weekend so we can go to Montreal and start planning our own wedding), and they said it would be no problem at all!

I am so excited and happy right now!

Hi July filer. I applied my K1 visa in July 2007 and got a visa in May 2008. I married my husband on the 28th of June and applied for AOS on the 19th of July.

How is everyone? I am sooooo bored everyday. I have no EAD and I cannot even work. I hate it so much. It sucks to live with only my husband's income. I need to move out when I get a job.

I am planning to move to very close to my work, so I do not have to buy a car. It is really expensive to live here.

Hi, dont take it so hard. You are at the beginning of a life with your husband and beginnigngs can always be bumpy. My wife also is pretty bored not being able to work. Have you filed yet for EAD? it looks like its about 3 or 4 months to process it, so your wait wont be long. My wife is very antsy to work and bring home an income. She is already planning where she wants to work even though she's 6 months pregnant lol. Just try to hang in there, talk to your husband as he is your rock and in this with you. in a few years you will look back with fondness and laugh at your beginning struggles as a married couple. Just as your parents do now.
