USCIS can still do nothing for us...looks like we will have to wait till the middle of July or something. That´s when they should publish new processing times on their website. Only then they can do something but I´m not even sure what :P

we didn't hear anything from our AOS yet. its driving me crazy to see other people getting their GC and NOTHING here. *sigh* the processing times of the local office here in tucson say that they are currenty working on AOS from AUGUST 2007. guess it will take a while longer......

Reading your posts takes me back to our process a few years ago. I moved here from Africa, found the prospect of all the paperwork daunting, but like all of you, waded through it and finally became a citizen two years ago. I wish I had access to a forum like this at the time - would have been a great inspiration and help!

To those of you still going through the immigration motions, hang in there. I know how frustrating it can be, but getting through and being with that special person in your life, is really worthwhile. Makes your relationship part of a very unique club! :star:

Congrats to those of you that have made it here. The adjustments are difficult and plenty at first, but once you adapt and/or assimilate, the experience is enriching and rewarding.

It's not so much the miles we have travelled as the journey we have taken.

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

aww marta, way cute!! you must be sooo excited :D

on another note, i would like to announce that i am officially the top albanian poster, as reported by my portal...i just recently overtook the girl who was on top for as long as i have been here...i didnt do it intentionally, but woot woot, go me

also, we are having a major adjustment period here in indiana...he basically hates it here...he absolutely cannot handle being without a job, and he hates being in the house all day...there is nobody here for him to talk to except for me, and he is just feeling really down lately...i try not to take it personally, but its hard because i try and try and i still cant make him happy, it is out of my hands...it could be worse though, i think back to when we were apart for so long, and things seem glorious again :P we took a trip to chicago on sunday, which was pretty fun...we went to this thing called 'taste of chicago' festival, which basically allowed you to go around to all different booths and taste food from a bazillion chicago restuarants...we will definitely be taking another trip there because its so close (1.5 hour drive)...we will also go to the beach on friday, and we have been doing some hiking and nature walk stuff to get him out of the house...im having fun, its just a bit boring here...i wish he could be more optimistic, but i know its hard for him

well, enough rambling...i hope everyone is doing wonderfully!!!

W00t :protest: That absolutely gives you the title "The Absolute Cheater" :P You promised you´d behave and now you are the top poster there! :o I´m going to faint :P

You said Adriano was taking English lessons there now right? So hopefully he´ll find some new friends there soon to talk to :) That´s always good  And is his English improving much or just slowly? You just have to get used to a slower pace of life I guess :) But it sounds like you are still having fun so that´s good :)

yay for top-posting Susie! :lol::dance:

I think there should be trophies for that sort of thing, or at LEAST a medal ;)

glad you guys had fun in Chicago, but I'm sorry the adjustment is so difficult :(

is there ANYTHING Adriano can work at, round the house? what about starting a garden? it can be a good project and if he grows veges you could save yourselves some money too ;)

otherwise, what about meetup.com? you never know who's meeting near you and you could get to know some cool people that way... Dave and I are going to try it out soon :)

Marta, can we see the ultrasound picture? pretty please? *big eyes*

haha i am soooo not a cheater, i won fair and square!!

i tried to get him to go to this english class, but he told me that he doesn't want to...sooo annoying, because i wanted him to go so he can learn english, but mainly, like you said, i thought he might be able to make a friend or two, maybe even someone who could help him out with a job...hes too stubborn though, so we have been working on english between the two of us...since he has been in indiana, he has been improving much faster than when we were in ny...so thats a good thing :)

a medal would do just fine :D

the garden sounds like a nice idea, i dont know if its manly enough for him though...ill ask him and see what he says...he might go for the veggie idea, because he lived on a farm until he was about 6 years old, and as a result, he absolutely lovessss fresh veggies...we are going to go to the farmer's market on saturday which i am sure he will love...meetup has a possible group thatll work for us, but its in chicago and only meets once a month...better than nothing though...our city has groups, but nothing related to us...its basically all church related things or political...anyway, i will let everyone know how things progress...wish us luck!

Hi guys. It's been a long time since I posted in here. Brian got his visa on April 30th. When he'd returned from his interview in London, his mum took a turn for the worse and passed away on May 19th. We've sort of been dealing with all the fallout from that. Tomorrow we will buy him a ticket to come here, most likely September-ish so he can bring the cat. We'll get married asap and have a formal party later. I'm very very tired.

Glad to see everyone's doing well. :luv:
