The silly thing is you don't have to be brave or strong willed or anything. I've found with the all hardest things in life, they just creep up, and then are done. Exams, degrees, jobs, interviews and even visas. You just walk on the plane and then you're away.

I'll never forget when I left Charlie for the first time, after spending 2 solid months together. I got to the airport, and was suddenly on the plane, I heard all these Irish accents around me for the first time all summer, and reality came crashing in. But I'd done it already at that stage. I was on my way home.

I agree with that! Now that the wait is almost over I think, "wow, that wasn't as bad as I thought it was." Of course, a year ago I didn't know if I'd make it :)

Why are none of you in the Seattle area?!?!?!?!

as far as the link is concerned, I think there are a LOT of tongues in cheeks in that thread, and a few mouth-breathers like the immortal zqt who can't tell ;)

" '...is the system too open, or too restrictive?' zqt: YES"

as far as the other - I dunno, I take the point about things just happening, but I still think there's a level of bravery involved... I don't think any of us should overdramatise it, but I don't think we should short-change ourselves either; we all made a pretty difficult decision, and then chipped away at the big mountain of obstacles until we could achieve what we wanted... I think there's all manner of good stuff there :)

certainly I know I felt like backing out any number of times; I don't want the fact that I didn't to go unrecognised ;)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

I am in Seattle!!!! born and raised, other than that last year in England :) we live in Shoreline now....you???

I agree....things do happen, sort of creep up on you (I always approach really scary things with the perspective that a year from now I will look back on all this, tests, visas, interviews, etc etc and smile - hopefully!!!! - and that usually keeps me calmer) but the courage to allow the creeping to happen, not backing out or running away, takes great courage! we have all been through a lot - and that should be celebrated!!!

Yay!!! Now remember that and listen to yourself when you feel down!! Besides - I forbid you to move back to Germany - It'll b e much easier to visit you in Tucson ;)

What you doing mid-August?! We'll be driving up to Sedona then for our legal shenanigans so... ;)

Congratulations :D:dance::dance::dance: Is Scott all ready for the move now? Packed and stuff? :)

not one single item has been packed yet. He hasn't even brought home boxes yet! I'm tempted to go out and get some and start packing his stuff myself, but if it were the other way around, I'd want to go through everything and get rid of stuff at the same time. But then again, it's not the other way around, and Scott is not nearly as ####### or organized as I am. ;)

Gratzies!!!! :D So when's the big move!?

Three weeks from now I am going to be on a big birdie in the sky with my lovely OH and my poor kitty :D

I imagine we'll spend all of Saturday packing. That night we pick up the Uhaul and Sunday we'll load. We'll start the drive early Monday morning and hopefully it won't take more than 10 hours to get to Brooklyn. :)

Aww, your poor kitty. I mean, I'm sure she'll be fine, but I know mine hates to travel, and I've never taken her on a plane, only in cars a few times.

When does Jeremy arrive in the UK?
