I had several of them as a teen. My favorite was a blue budgie named Elliott. I got him for my 13th birthday. He could say "juju", which he did every time I sneezed! I still miss him.

My grandparents were... odd as well - they met during WWII when my granddad was in the Army in occupied Holland - he met my gran (who is Dutch) who didn't speak English, yet they married and she moved to England - bet she didn't have half as much trouble moving!!!

the budgies were all labelled 'parakeets' in the pet store! but they're an Australian animule, so I told Dave that as an Aussie I know what they're called, thankyouverymuch, so they're budgies

the one I saw yesterday, which I HOPE is still there this afternoon when we go to buy one, is powder blue and pretty, like this:
