A mud room is basically a small entryway where the kids come in the house and leave all their muddy stuff so they don't trash the house! Too small for a Twister tournament!!

:lol::lol::lol:

that's not at all what i had in mind!!!

a very clever idea though!!

Complete change of subject - but if someone is in the US from the UK on a work visa and they are getting married to a USC - can't they just apply for AOS?

Mum's friend's son is in the US working and apparently they are going through a lawyer :eyeroll: who is saying this isn't the case!!

Yes, no problem at all. :yes:

Perhaps he needs to get a new lawyer?

I have a friend who I believe did just that. They should definitely get a different lawyer. This is who my friend used (located in NY), if you want to pass it on:

So long as the original intent upon arrival was not for marriage, then AOS is no problem whatsoever. tell them to save a few thousand bucks and apply for AOS without a lawyer. In fact, send them a link to this website!!

Wow, I never fail to be surprised at just how useless lawyers can be. It's really gobsmacking.

Immigration is an area where there are pretty well laid down guidelines, imagine how ####### they would be in the hazy area of finding relavent precedent, or laws which are open interpretation. :blink:

Oh dear this is so funny!! Mum actually gave her friend the website address for here!! I said he could have paid me to tell him what to do and as soon as she mentioned lawyer I said it was a waste of money!! Apparently it is complicated though...

My theory is it is only complicated because they have a lawyer telling them he needs a visa... uh... hello?! He already *has* a visa - that's why he can work there!!!

:lol:

Oh dear - we are all visa nerds :D

I embrace my nerdiness!!

Anyhow, its not that tough to adjust from an H visa. They need to complete and pay for the i-130 and pay for and complete the AOS stuff concurrently.
