It took me a long time to decide but I eventually decided on being traditional and just took his name. I now have a Greek name that no-one ever spells correctly.

aww, yea those greek names can be tricky sometimes...one of my best friends growing up had the last name 'koutsoukos'...i was the only one who could spell it correctly

generally, i like them though...ethnic names are way more fun :P

Miceli sounds nice :) If you wanna keep yours too I think I like the Gundersen-Miceli combination better :) I don´t mind when names are too long. Spanish/Mexican people often take their mothers´ and fathers´ names also and they have like 4 names each of them :) But if it becomes a name that´s 16 names long then it becomes confusing :) If you wanna have any kids, what name do you wanna give them? And where did you get the Gundersen name from? Sounds Skandinavian :)

yea, i like his last name, but i just dont like the idea of giving mine up...we will see i guess...i thought about the spanish name thing, and i kinda like it :D id be cool with the kids taking his name...thats probably what we will do...my last name is scandanavian, my grandpa was born in oslo, norway :P

His dad!

:D Does he look Greek too? After his dad? :) Lots of ladies find Greek guys attractive :)

I don't think he looks Greek, no. Click on my photos and look at our wedding pics, what do you think? His mother is British and has very light reddish hair so I think a lot of the Greek was diluted. :D

Have you heard that those genes that lots of Irish people have (and I believe some Brits do to) that make their skin pale and hair so red, those genes are gonna disapear in a couple of decades and there will be no more red haired people like that?

:o !

I'm a redhead and I can't imagine there not being any more people like me around! It would be a travesty.

And on the last name topic, I actually prefer Scott's last name to mine, but I won't be changing it. I tend to think it's a sexist tradition, but that isn't to say that I disagree with people's choices to change their names. I know everybody has their reasons.

Well I don´t mind people keeping their names and husband and wife having a different last name each. What I do mind for some reason is that the kids get usually just one of their parents´ last name and it´s often the father´s name. Maybe if half of the kids had that name and the other half would have the other name, but that seems weird too. The thing is, if you wanna keep your name cuz you wanna continue where you come from and the kids don´t get your name then where you come from (the name) actually ends with you anyway cuz there is noone inheritting your name. So I prefer to take my husband´s name so we are one big family and our kids have our name cuz now it´s my name too and it doesn´t feel to me like it´s someone elses name. And then I can show and tell our kids where I am from too so they know it and the fact that I had a different name in Europe doesn´t matter. My American name is Mexican anyway

Actually maybe if I kept my maiden name and the rest of our family would have my husbands name then maybe it would make me feel like a stranger :P

But that´s just me :) Whoever wants to keep their names I think it´s perfectly fine if that´s what they feel. And it doesn´t matter what other people think cuz other people don´t walk in their shoes :)

wow, you guys can type!!! pages and pages since i was here last.

I'm keeping my own name. It's what i've always been called, and I would find it really weird to 'be' someone different. Plus maybe it's weird but I like the idea that we are individuals. We can't be lumped in together as Mr & Mrs. so-and-so. I hate when a couple is always considered as a pair and not as a separate human being. but that's just my 2c. :star:
